Light Question

ok im not satisfied with the color tempature of our currant hids,a bud of mine that has the most amazing beamer has 8000k aqua blue hids they look absolutely beautiful.. what im wondering is if i can just buy 8000k bulbs..and if their plug and play and what kind i need to get i messaged someone on the board about their 6000k hids and he said the light scatters and doesnt have a cutoffline any more, but ius very happy with the colour..he told me he has phillips ultron d2s bulbs..he was mentions something about d2r bulbs..do the d2r have the cutoff lines..i was a lil confused about this..so i asked my bud again, why im getting a cutoffline with these bulbs and why not with the d2s he said the possible soloution is that the d2r bulbs are painted on the top,so thats why the light only beams from the bottm thats why you get the cutoffline..? is this true,he has projectors on his beamer so that is the only solutiuon he had between bulbs can you guys help me out..also can someone point me to a colour tempature chart to what the bulb colour would be..? thanks everyone!!! also if you guys know any good sites with reasonalble prices on hid bubls by them self...

It is the Projector that give off the nice cut off line.and you can purchase 8000K D2R on ebay.

Ok first of all if you put 8000K bulbs in your headlights it will look like kaa-kaa . I love how all these people try to imitate the deep blue look that projector headlamps have with installing high temp bulbs. You will get horrible output on a headlight that is already pretty crummy. If you stick a D2S bulb in your reflector housing it will cause additional glare (Blinding oncoming traffic and making an even blurier cutoff line.) D2R bulbs are made for reflector headlights and they come with a glare shield on the top of the bulb to prevent additional glare.

If you want the blue "flicker" do it right. Here is a picture of my projector's cutoff pattern. Notice the blue color on top of the cut off line:

Those are 4300K OSRAM bulbs in the projectors. I can get more color if I wanted to but at the expense of a blurred cutoff line. Either way they blow stock output out of the water.

how did you get projectors, i have been searching all over this site on this upgrade and everyone wants them, and most of those that have them, did it temselves. I know im not mechanically inclined enough to even dare attempt a project such as this, so if you have any information please share

The older G35 lights used 85126 D2Rs, the newer ones used 85126+ D2Rs.

If you want bluer lights, you'll also have to accept a decrease in light output, on our already poor quality HID reflector system. Remember, Kelvin not = lumens. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read up on hidforum.

yes IF you don't have projectors then you will need d2r bulbs.

and from my understanding you have a factory (stock) headlight with out any mods in between year of 03-05. when you buy any d2r bulb they are plug and play.

now when you have a projector headlight then you will need d2s bulbs. and any d2s in interchangeble to each other. and 210 for some d2r bulbs seems pricy... u going to phillips ultion?
