Re: aftermartket HID

Go with Catz. I have a set that is still new in blue for $450 + shipping. Evolution is a Taiwanese made HID.........stay away from them. As for Panasonic.........well, you figure it out........what are they well-known for? Not HIDs. Go with either Catz or Raybrig............Raybrig costing about $900 though.

Re: aftermartket HID

Huh??? Why would aftermarket HIDs be banned?
I have not heard this. My 2003 G35 does not have the
HID option. I looked into upgrading the low beams.
That would cost around $450. So if I don't upgrade
now, it will be illegal to do it later? That sucks!

Re: aftermartket HID

Seems that there are to many damn ricers with the aftermarket HID's so it has been brought to the attention of NHTSA, so on and after 8/15 vendors will be fined $5,000 per day for selling aftermarket HID kits.

Here's a link: Googl e search

Re: aftermartket HID

From what I’ve read so far is that all they're doing is prohibiting the sale of aftermarket HID kits after 8/15.

Re: aftermartket HID

IMHO, the Philips and Catz kits are the best. There is a reason most knock-off kits try to look like Philips kits and bulbs. Try hid-online.com. (don't forget the dash) They sell genuine Philips kits and the price includes 48 hour shipping and a couple of freebies. Philips has a direct link from their website to hid-online's website. I'm still debating but I'm planning on getting the H1 kit from them. (Gotta do it soon though.)

Re: aftermartket HID

Jaymes,
The low beams for the G are indeed H1's.

You may be able to get them off of ebay after the 15th. NHTSA probably won't go after anyone on ebay but you should also remember that there are a lot of kits on ebay that claim to be philips, for instance, that aren't. Be careful if you go on ebay.

Re: aftermartket HID

I don't know if they will be shut down or not. liteswap.com stopped selling their kits a week ago though.

I just ordered a Philips kit from hid-online.com. They also confirmed the ban on sales after 8/15.
