retrofit clarification

I have read numerous threads about retrofits..my question is I am doing a projector retro..tsx in the low beams..i am told i need to use a d2s bulb instead of what I have stock now..is that the case?will it work with the existing harness or does that have to be modified?

is the light output color on the D2S the same as a stock bulb?

Yes you need D2S bulbs
D2S=projector
D2R=reflector
Yes i believe they will work with the existing harness. I dont believe there are any modifications necessary to put them in.

You can modify the stock D2R bulbs into D2S bulbs by scraping off the black coating on the bulb and dremeling in another notch at the base of the bulb.

I believe the light output color is the same but with a projector (D2S) you have a more defined cutoff and more light output than a reflector.

if you are doing a single you do not need a ballast since your oem one has one. and you do not need another wiring harness since the oem works with d2s and d2r. d2s bulbs are projectors and d2r are reflector hids. you can use our factory d2r bulbs with minor modifications such as making little notces and takeing off the black light blocker.

d2s is RECOMMENDED for you since d2r had slightly less output in light

So for this mod all you really need is the TSX projector housings? How much do they normally go for?
