philips ultinon 6000K bulbs

question for the people that own em.

Without installing them, just by looking at the bulb, how can you tell they're Ultinons??

I just received my ultinons yesterday and nowhere on the box or the bulbs does it say Ultinons...

any help is greatly appreciated!

i'll post pics of my bulbs once I get home.

better yet, let me show you guys the ebay link. here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

scroll down the actual page because the main picture (D2R for reflector housings) aren't the ones I got.

the ones I received are correct as far as being D2S and what not.

the only difference I see is that the Ultinons on ebay have the blue/purple strip on the stick (sorry for not knowing the actualy bulb language lol)

and the OEM 4100K-4300K D2S bulbs have a black/gray looking stick...

Here's a pic of my Philips Ultinons 6000k D2S for my Projector Mod. Seems yours should be the same except for the part# and having D2R on them. I got these from the Group buy we had here on Driver late last year...
They don't have Ultinons on them though.

On the base it reads:

PHILIPS GERMANY 2A428
D2S 35W 85122 WX Hg
NOT FOR USE IN EUROPE/USA

How to tell they're genuine ultinons

Besides the bluish purple ceramic tube on the return wire, look in the capsule itself. The metallic salts should be a blood-red color

philip ultinons are regular HID's, thats just what they're called. It's like a brand. They're just known for good quality which is why ppl like em.

from what I know, the Ultinons are 6000K, where as the stock(OEM) would be 4100K or 4300K.

OEM - white/yellow
Ultinons - hint of blue

if you have the money to buy the Ultinons, and you want to have a little blue then id say go for it! they cost me $230 shipped!

as for the OEM bulbs would either cost more or less, depends where you buy them.
