Installing 06 projectors and have questions
Hi Guys. I searched but wasn’t able to figure this info out. I have an 05 6MT Coupe. When retro-fitting/installing the 06 Projector Headlights, the Projectors become Dual-Xenon (High and Low beams) and the lower lights will remain Fogs exclusively. Now, on the 05’s, the lower lights were both High beams and Fogs lights. Now, my question is, how is this done? Does the 06 projectors housing/unit come with some special harness to make the projector become dual-xenons? I just wanted to know if I need to have some extra time prepared so I can get the harness or reconfigure wires etc. I just ordered mine through Infiniti Specialists (shameless plug
) Thanks for any replies.

Its simple plug and play, no extra work on your part. The projectors have shields in them so you dont blind everyone, these shield have lil motors or solenoids on them that move the shield out of the way when you activate your high beams causing the entire bulb in the projector to be exposed thus creating the high beam.
OK, I think I understand how it works now. In my old Maxima, there was a High Beam wire that went into the headlight bulb unit. I’m guessing the new harness for the ‘06 has the wire re-routed going to the projector instead of going to the bottom fog lights. My plan is to take the ballast from the 05 unit and using that for the 06 fog light and converting the fogs into HIDS (also need to buy H4 HID bulbs instead of H4 halogen bulbs). I think this should work. Anybody tried this? If not, I guess I’ll be the first!
Funny, this is absolutely my first MOD. I haven’t even changed the air filter yet. I have an 05 6MT Coupe (DG) that I purchased in July. It has about 7500 miles on it. Thanks for all the replies guys.
