Coupe tail light bulbs

Does anyone know how to get access to the tail light bulbs? It seems like I have to take the whole tail light out to get access to the bulbs. I saw only 3 screws for the tail light after I took the trunk liner off, is that right?

There should be at least 3 nuts that hold the tail lights in. One is hidden behind the plastic cover where the trunk latch is. I can't recall if there's a 4th one but it will come out easily after unscrewing the nuts.

Ok, so i finally got to the bulbs. There are officially 3 screws (on the 05 at least) holding the tail light. It was a PITA getting to the 3rd screw behind the plastic strip that lings the edge of the trunk. Other 2 screws are behind the side lining, easy to see once the lining comes off.

what bulb were you trying to replace? i was thinking of taking out the led bulb where it lights up a square shape and just leave the circle one lid up. was that the one you refering to or the reverse bulb?

I actually took out the "side marker" bulb on the far end of the tail light. I didnt like that light there, so now that little rectangle serves as a reflector only. (Im not sure if 06 have that)

I wanted to do same thing as you, disconnect the square and leave the circle, but when I looked on the back of the tail light it looked like there was one set of wires running into a one housing for both the circle and the square. I didnt want to mess with it, but if you take yours out let me know how it goes.

^^ exactly what i was thinking. im pretty sure theres only 1 wire that goes into both the circle and square leds cause once the parking lights are on then both lights are also on. when braking both lights are also turn on. im thinking of a way to jus take the led bulb itself out but i think its harder than it may seem. probaly needs to take apart the taillight itself and then remove the bulbs. what a pita...

I didnt look into the housing, perhaps once you open the housing you will be able to just unplug the square led wire. That would make sense from engineering point of view, if they ever have to replace harness/led bulbs or anything else in that area that would allow easy replacement.

i need to replace the rear side marker bulb too, but i've read you have to install new seal packings whenever you take off the whole light assembly? did you?

^^What seals are you referring to? There are 3 screws per side that actually hold the tail light assembly to the body of your car. I'm not aware of replacing any seals to take off and put back on the tail light assembly.

I didnt replace any seals... i think the tail light has "pads" that keep it sturdy against the body of the car, but they dont look like they need to be replaced.
