How is the Audio system in BASE M35?

I am debating between buying a loaded G35 or a base M35. The M comes very loaded. Primary concern is over the quality of the BOSE audio system that comes with the car. Anyone know how it compares, say, to the upgraded BOSE system in my '05 G35?

Having owned both vehicles...

The stereo should be you last worry, all oem "upgraded" stereo systems suck. Some more than others but if the stereo is that important to you, you will want something aftermarket... Go listen to both... audio is different for everyone. There is a thread on another M board i'm on talking about how much the optional system sucks in the M. To me, it sounds great. It has lows which most oem systems don't come close to, espcially the G. The G's system has great mids, ok trebel but NO BASS. If all you listen to is classical then it will do great, but it has NO low low end that I can tell.

Either way, what it matters is how it sounds to you. The bigger question you should be asking yourself is do you want a car that big and would you rather have a sporty car or a comfy car. The G drives like a dream and is meant for the twisties... the M is more of a tourer that can hold its own around a corner. Go drive both in a row and the difference should be like night and day, or it was for me when I had a G loaner the other day...

No problem,
I upgraded for a few reasons, the main reason being that the G was in an accident w/ dual airbag deployment. The second being I'm 6ft 8in... The M is the first car I have really been able to fit in, and even have room for someone beind me?? Thats un heard of!? ;-) Anyway, they are two very different animals but I have been very happy with both. And now that the 08 Ms are pretty much identical on the inside its going to make your decision that much harder (if your looking at an o8...).

That said,
The one option my M doesn't have that the G did was the adaptive cruise control, which I miss dearly... and me being a tech geek I would probably opt for the G with all the toys over a car that might fit me better but now I have the best of both worlds, I don't know if your set on getting something brand new but I paid less for my M than I did for my G...

How would one compare the base unit of the M35 to the Bose system in the G35 Coupe? I'm fine with my system in the Coupe but didn't get a chance to listen to the standard system on the M.

The standard system SUCKS!

Sometimes I think somebody stole the rear deck speaker. It has 6 speakers (2 tweeters, and 4 door speakers and it still sounds so weak. Weaker than the G35 base stereo. I love the hell out of my M, but the sound is my only complaint.

My 2 cents.

Since sound systems are so subjective, I guess the best method is to listen to both systems and make a decision. I heard a ton of bad press of the bose system in my Coupe and I think it's actually ok for my tastes. I don't have music on most of the time I drive and would find it hard to upgrade to another system unless the exisiting one was absolutely intolerable.
