Exclusive 2009 HR M Pics
Exclusive 2009 HR M Pics
Well...not quite yet. I'll be uploading these when I get home tonight.
Just thought I'd give you folks the heads up and let you guys know that the HR Ms are here. Not sure what the release date is just yet. They've been sitting here for a while and I never got around to checking them out. When I read that the US market '09s would be getting the HR (the JDM Fuga has had the HR since the '08 model year), I figured I'd pop a hood or two to see for myself. Sure enough, centrally mounted dipstick flanked by not one but two intakes. I'm pretty sure I read that the motor will be rated at 303hp like the '09 FX35 and not 306hp like the '07-'08 G Sedan. I haven't driven one yet but the info released from Infiniti online states that the car also has the new 7A/T that first debuted in the '09 FX and is set to show up in the '09 G Sedan and Coupe. I may take one for a spin this afternoon just to see for myself.
The only other changes I've noticed were the automatic locking doors which first popped up on the '08 EX and are slowly making their way to every Nissan/Infiniti model. I just wish Nissan/Infiniti would implement BMW's "pull twice to open a locked door" layout. Much quicker and less of a hassle than having to manually unlock the door or push the unlock switch. Supposedly the cars also have scratch shield paint as well although I haven't found a sound way of confirming that without using a key or other sharp object. I'll take their word for it. Everything else seems to be identical to the '08 cars.
Pics will go up tonight. I only took a frontal shot of the M and a pair of underhood pics. One showing both the M's front clip and the new motor, and a closer shot of the motor. Not much else to show really aside from the new engine. If you guys have any requests though, let me know.
For those wondering about the M35's V8 sibling the M45, the bigger brother's drivetrain remains unchanged from the '08 model with the only new features being the inclusion of the aforementioned automatic door locks and scratch shield paint. The V8 model will almost certainly gain the 390hp 5.0L VVEL unit from the FX50 along with the 7A/T when the M is redesigned for 2010.

And as an added bonus, an M with an identity crisis.

As for the M5...identity crisis much? Someone in Hawaii also has an M badged as an M55. And the 55 font doesn't even match the M font.
