If you get a Zinc coated rotor itl never rust, or just get some high temp paint and spray the rotor prior to install 1st time you hit the brakes itl take it off leaving it in that little area your talking about and slots/holes if you have those

Exactly what was said above, just have to use high temp paint and spray a ring around the rotors. If I had the option to buy zinc coated I would have but CZP has the Akebono/Stoptech package that only comes in that drilled and slotted rotor

they have a zinc coated option for those.... i got the same thing with silver zinc

yes paint the whole rotor, when you hit the brakes itl take it off where the pad makes contact leaving anything else still covered with the paint so those surfaces wont be able to rust

Before I installed my stop tech rotors with the black centers I still when ahead and powder coated the whole rotor gloss black

And when I started driving it as your breaking them in the paint slowly starts to come off where the pad lies on the rotor and end up looking like this

why did I not see this at MAProving Grounds?!!? I was the only G35 for most the event! One coupe showed up for half a day with factory wheels painted orange or red or something, and a stock sedan showed up for a few minutes as well. There was a G37 coupe on Vossens.

can someone explain the powercoating of the rotors for me? so the pads are gunked with paint residue now?
