Metal used on a given design will vary. Sometimes harder metals are needed to remain structurally sound but this can lead to cracks which is probably what happened to original Hiros. Soft metals bend, hard metals crack. Not every single cast wheel design is made the same so a brand should never be considered suspect if there are a few designs that have had issues.
