I've been thinking about removing the side molding but worry that area will be a lot darker than the surrounding paint. We are having a mod day Saturday in Atlanta so they may come off.

Mtodde, your car looks awesome!!! Mmmm Brembos! My coupe is clean on the outside too but I KNOW I can use a lil detailing treatment like what you did to have shiny too! I never knew the DG paint can shine like that

I removed the side moldings Saturday...what a PITA! 4 year old adhesive is tough. I wound up having to clay & polish the sides on Sunday so I figured I'd
redo the whole car, LOL.

I painted the grill with Plasti-Dip too. It seems to work well...as long as you
read the directions and hold the can 12"+ away.

After the removal of the side molding I had to use a heat gun & Goo Gone to remove the adhesive. The Goo Gone removed the wax & sealant below the molding and there were some stains around the edges of the molding that needed to be removed.

Sunday I washed & clayed the car and broke out my trusty Porter Cable 7424 orbital and polished the entire car with Poorboy's SSR 2.5 and an orange light cutting pad. I had to make 3 passes on the doors & rear quarter panels to remove all of the staining. A rotary would have made short work of this and in hindsight I probably should have used a yellow medium cutting pad for the first pass.

After polishing the car I used Poorboy's Black Hole Glaze to remove any micro-marring and fill in any remaining swirls. I applied it with the PC and a blue polishing pad and let it dry to a haze. This is a product where a little goes a long way. The finish was nice & sparkly and pretty slick.

I have wanted to use Poorboy's EX Sealant with Carnauba on a car of mine for several years but my last car was bright silver and EX was meant for darker cars. DG isn't as dark as say Twilight Blue but I figured it was dark enough for EX. I applied the EX by hand with a clean microfiber applicator trying to apply it as thinly as possible. I let it haze for about 10 minutes before buffing it off with a microfiber towel, applying it to a few panels at a time. I was really happy with the end results. I'm hoping to put another coat on one night this week and let it dwell for about an hour before removing it...in a few weeks I'll get bored & top it with a carnauba.
