Well, before I drop the coin for a great set of coilovers I thought I would take one last shot at the perfect spring/shock setup for my tastes.
About 18 months ago I installed Koni sport shocks with the Eibach Sportline (for G35 coupe) springs. I thought the setup handled well enough for me, and I thought it looked good albeit the front wheel/fender gap was a little more than I preferred.
Lately, I've seen a couple of cars with the Z sportlines and I liked the drop. I went ahead and bought a brand new set of Z sportlines and installed them. I also had a machinist cut off 7/16" from an extra set of rear springmounts I had laying around. The pics show the result . . .
The hard data is: The front came down .25" and rear .38". My ground to wheel arch measurements are: 25.5" front, 26" rear. According to the FSM, a stock coupe measures 27.4" front, 28" rear. Funny thing is that without the springmount mod, the rear would actually be a touch higher than my G sportlines. I think the rear drop is perfect but I could use about another 7-9mm drop in the front. This will do for now but coilovers are in the car's future for the ultimate adjustability.
I have about 250 miles on the new setup and had it aligned a few days ago. Everything up front is within spec. The rear toe is in spec but the camber is -1.9 on the right, and -2.3 on the left. The SPC toe bolts were installed correctly but are maxed out. BTW, I think the ride and handling characteristics are marginally better.

Not really . . . Only really steep driveways and rather high speed bumps cause problems. In those situations I just get the right angle on the entry and it usually clears.
I've actually had cars much lower than this since 1993 so this car is merely an inconvenience from time to time instead of a real hassle. I just like that it never rubs even on super fast and aggressive corners.
