DG + Flat Black OEM Lip

very late edit: pics with headlights painted

Sorry guys totally forgot to upload new pics with the headlights painted. Still working on getting some new black rims, going to either buy a rear diffuser or get a bluebat overlay.

So had free time yesterday, so I finally painted an oem lip that I had repaired, I decided to go with flat black to see how I liked it. Painting was fairly easy, dripping was a bit of a problem though so the paint job isn't perfect but you can't tell unless you get really close. I did one layer of primer and probably about 4 layers of flat black, no clear coat. Kinda hard to tell but it matches very well with the grill. Headlights will be painted to match next week, but enough talk here are some pics.

Looks pretty good, I would paint the headlights black though if you're going to have a gray/black theme.

Hmm interesting thought, i do have a set of non jdm clear corners i could try laying a light layer of flat black paint on to give it a smoked look. Thanks for the idea.

I think it needs a clear coat but then again I was never a fan of flat black. If you like it all that matters.

Ahh was planning on painting them black and time attack style vinyl, but the car was bought by my parents and since i haven't paid them for it i still let them make the big calls. They saw a few civics with black wheels and they no longer approved haha, sure the g would look better but i'll have to work that idea in slowly
nice, it would also look good if you painted the lip of the rims DG like your car ad the spokes flat black, time attack is played out

Peronally I think it'd look better painted oem color but that's just me since I've never liked black lips on cars..

But it doesn't look bad, don't get me wrong, just not my thing.

I'd suggest next time, do about 3-4 coats of primer throughout a day let sit over night, then about 3-4 coats of the flat black(light to medium coats so you dont get the dripping) again lets dry overnight. You will get a much better result as well as a more durable paint job. I can already see your grill has paint chips.

Looks pretty good though, will def. look better once lights are done!

Please paint it - I think it looks like the cavaliers and neons running around with non painted bodykits...
