Very cool, I've only seen a few Sedans retrofit these.

I must ask though, why not just get 06+ projectors?

Because I spent around 250 for everything, including the projectors, bulbs, sandpaper, paint and so on. lol.

Oh it was.. 3 whole days worth.
Used a heatgun to open them, (yes should have been an oven but felt more comfortable with a heatgun), had to trim the housing, drill mounting holes because it woud not fit in the reflector oem screw placement, shroud trimming, sanding painting, housing cracked and had to fix resand, happened to the other cuz i dropped it.. but all in the end it was hell but worth it.

its pushed pretty far back compared to oem 06+ so it doesnt show off my beautiful shroud.

I think I am the first with the G37-R shroud though, had to cut over half of it to fit the damn thing, haha.

Looks great.

Now, normally I'm not one to add to the obvious question that everyone is going to ask: "Why not just get 06 Projectors?" However, in this case, I really do wonder why. I understand you only spent $250 doing that but projectors can be had for about $487 (at least that's what I paid for mine - and I had to pay tax too), and unless the deal falls through, tomorrow I'll be selling my reflectors off my 04 for $220. So I was out about $267 total...

However, one thing I could really understand about retrofitting the reflector headlights is because of the clearance strip. I absolutely love the clearance strip look which is why it took me so long to finally throw in projectors (I literally just did it yesterday). The yellowing clearance strip and hazing housings was also a big part of the reason I did the swap. However, you deleted the clearance strip! After all that effort why not throw in a different diffuser and some CCFL strips for even lighting?

Those are just my personal observations. If anything, you can still take away that you did the retrofit yourself and that it was unique.

nice retro ss284....i did something similar with a fx-r's on top and tsx's on the bottom. But it looks like you went the extra setup with the shrouds. i was going to do something simliar with e46 shrouds, but i got too lazy with all the cutting..lol.

Very nice setup..very oemish. Post some wall shots

Honestly, it was more of the fun of modding rather then ease of getting new year projectors.
And I did love seeing others with full light bars, leds, DRLs, but it wasn't for me. Many have done it right and looks sexy but I decided it looks much cleaner without.
Care to share a pic of your setup?

i can answer this, few reasons. One is, he wasn't happy with the performance of the oem hids including with the 06 projectors and wanted a projector with better performance.

Didn't feel like spending $500 when he can make something that is better or just as good for half the cost.

third is obviously for the unique look.

My 03 head light reflectors were all cracked since the previous owner didn't really take care of the car. So i figured i had nothing to lose..

The tsx's on the bottom were super easy but the top was a pain in the butt and pretty much cut a huge chunk of the top half of the head light bezel that sits on top of the projector.

It'll probably redo it with shrouds and clear lens 06 head light covers in the future.

Right now i just painted both projectors black and they seem to blend in well.

The fx-r have way more color, so i tend to use those. The tsx's seem to have less color but more beam width.

i attached a pic i took on my iphone.

I'm sorry but did you fail to read my post? Net cost was not $500...it was $267.

I already stated that it was unique, I don't understand why you felt the need to restate that...?

Fair enough. If you're not a clearance strip guy I can see that. I'm actually not a fan of the little "ridges" in the 06 projectors (I'd prefer it to be like yours where it's just smooth) but I'm not one to tear into my headlights, so oh well.

I'll post a pic up tomorrow. It's dark already.
