making my own custom trunk lid.....

so i have been really thinking about doing the hakka trunk lid or whatever its called lol, but in my journey i found a link where a member made his own out of metal.... well i liked it so much that im gonna try it so here it goes, ill try to take progression pics as i go. i worked on it one sat so far at work and this is where im at so far.... I started doing my own too a couple of weeks ago, but it's on hold for now because I don't have a heated garage and it's cold as hell outside. Fiberglass doesn't like cold weather!

very nice guys! whats the cost ratio on doing it yourself in metal vs lets say buying a CF one?

i got 8.50 in the rod and like 25 in sheet metal. lol and the carbon one is like ummm 700-900 depending on name brand. ill do it myself lol

700?? you can acquire it for less than 550 shipped to your door. that's a fact

Didn't you buy the 06 trunk w/spoiler ?

I have the 06 trunk on my car right now. I wanted to have a spare trunk lid to play with, the one in the picture is my 05 one which I was going to have to get painted anyways because the paint around the spoiler and an area on the top part of the spoiler was coming off.
