Got baby home after new paint job.
Got baby home after new paint job.
Hi!
After waiting three very looooooooooong months I finally picked up my baby yesterday from the body shop. It received a new paint job and freshly powder coated rims. I had them remove the gold painted pin stripping down the side of the car. I'm afraid to touch it, it's so pretty.
I've always used Meguiar's in the past, but those were my daily driver's. What do you recommend for a vehicle that just received a new paint job? I don't want to scratch the paint! What products do you use and where to purchase said products?
Thanks for your help! I haven't had time yet to take some nice shots. However, I did take some quick photos yesterday when I finally got the car home. - Tiff

I'd recommend you get two buckets with grit guards and learn the proper washing method using two buckets. Black's a *****. My mom's car is black OEM paint which is probably softer than your repaint. Complete BS to take care of. When I visit it gets washed and it's horrifying what can happen to it just from driving in 2-4 month spans.
Typically I wash with two buckets, doing wheels/tires/below waterline first. Dump that stuff and refill buckets with fresh. Wash top half/clay. Then dry with a waffle weave after blowing with a blower. Then I use a high quality microfiber that is very very clean (as in never been dropped or sat on a landscaping stone, etc) to buff off any wax applied with a foam or MF towel.
The best thing to do is apply something like opticoat or aqaurtz, along with a clear bra. Black shows it all and you have a fresh start so do it right!

Batman I can tell from the pic your new paint was rained on so it doesn't matter if you used tire black or not, it's a work in progress! Detailing, call Griot's garage 1-800-345-5789 and have them send you a catalog. They have kits that include everything you'll need to keep that black beauty looking like show quality. The kits include books and vids so all you need do is follow their instructions. His orbital buffer is the best anywhere along with the rest of the kit! Good Luck, give her a bath and send new pic....Gary

Btw, car was painted and detailed from same shop. No, the car was not rained on. It was just detailed/buffed from the same people who performed the work. I just picked it up and took shots real quick when I got it home.
$4,520 for new tires and the suspension replaced with new of June 2013.
$4,700 for new front bumper and paint (just done)
$1,200 for the wheels to be re-powder coated. (just done)
No, tire shine until paint settles on the car.

Better than stock imo. Not changing them. Original owner purchased them from Spyder Auto.
Thank you.
