Lowered my 05X!

Well I spent a good part of last night installing some 350Z springs on my G Sedan. The first spring went in with no problems....than I got to the front drivers side and the nut on top of the strut was completely rusted to the strut rod. It took me almost 2 hours to remove that nut. I ended up drilling and grinding it off while keeping the threads on the strut intact since I had to re-use it. I ended up having to peel the nut off. Yes I took a picture of this as well as before and after pictures. Once that side was done it was 40 minutes to complete the rear springs and on to installing the Z tube. My ride to work this morning and the one I just took for lunch put the biggest smile on my face. The car handles like I feel it should now and the sound of the engine purring at full throttle is absolutely perfect. I just need to top it off with the JWT Popcharger and I will be all set. All in all the springs lowered my car about an inch and a half.

ok so here goes with the pics.

First is the remains of the rusty nut!

Next up is a comparison of the stock G springs (on the right) to the stock 04 350Z springs(on the left).

Now the before front picture...

And the After. These were taken before driving and letting the springs settle.

The Rear drop is about the same. Here are some complete car shots.

Here are the best before shots I have the entire car.

Overall I do love the way the car handles. The front left strut that I had trouble removing the nut from is making a slight noise over bumps so I will probably just replace it with a new one or upgrade to some aftermarket struts.

Thanks for looking and comments are always appreciated. Now just need my Tint guy to call me back!!

Mmmmm that looks so much better. I need to get some springs for my X. I like the way it rides but I don't like driving a monster truck.

Yeah lower would be great but for the price I paid for these and with winter coming up I am very happy with the results.

That completely makes sense with your weather patterns. It never snows where I live so if there was a spring that dropped the car lower than I have it now I would do it.

Nice work, after I lowered my 05X, I loved it even more! I did H&R springs, and it looks perfect!
Took these pics on my way to work yesterday.

Thanks all for the comments!

mr2willwin - nice looking car. I thought about the H&R's and still may end up with them. These were local and very, very affordable so I figured I would give them a try. Are you still running the stock struts also?

I do have the stock struts, I almost did the 350z ones, I had a good deal lined up locally, but I have but H&Rs on all my cars and have been so happy with them, so I decided to just go with that for now. I will be putting some Koni Yellows on the rear when I have the 400 plus bucks to do it! I have found there are a couple dips in the road I drive and I can feel the back end dip really bad on.

Yeah I was going to use the 350z struts until I realized that I can only use the rear ones due to the AWD. I have already started to save for some upgraded units though. Just gotta decide which ones.

Looks good man. I did the same to my car.

You should consider coming out to an MN meet.

Here's my 05 P X lowered on H&R's (best springs money can buy!!!), Just got a set of rear Koni yellows waiting for my front back from KONI. You will soon need to replace stock shocks, no doubt about that.
