Huzzah! No more woodgrain (04 G35x)

For those of you fretting about the little bit of wood trim in the 04 sedan (don't know about other models) on the shift **** and door pull handles - there is hope. I found some of the much-discussed carbon fiber fabric and wrapped my wooden nightmares away. It took about an hour from start to finish.

(For those that love wood and/or hate CF, sorry but I can't stand the former and am neutral on the latter)

Behold:

(never mind those wires; those are for a footwell lighting project still in progress)

looks good. the "wood" trim is slightly better on the 05-06 sedans. It'd be tough to wrap the radio trim plate on 05-06 cars though.

I have considered the 3m carbon fiber vinyl. Is it worth the money & easy to work with?

The stuff I used wasn't 3M, but I assume the fabrics are basically all the same when you're working with a small amount. If you google "carbon fiber fabric" it's the first link (don't know if it's appropriate to post product links here)

It is very easy to work with. It's like any thin fabric - lays where you put it, stretches a bit, and stays pretty well with some adhesive spray. I would note that due to it being vinylish and all man-made fibers, cutting it well requires either scissors and a very steady hand, or an incredibly sharp razor blade. I used a new blade and still left a somewhat ragged edge (the only place you can find the edge of my fabric is on the shift ****, so it worked for my purposes).

Another note - although it looks shiny and bright in the pics due to the flash, it is actually much more black in daily driving. You can't even see it when you look through closed windows. If you want something to contrast with black trim, that company also makes a silver CF fabric.

I like it! Never been a big fan of the wood.

Now pick up one of these to complete the look

Looks great! You ever get your exhaust installed?

I tried to get a NJ cruise this week but no one wanted any part of it. LOL
