I don't understand how it could possibly rub... look at the profile pic (stock stance - so much clearance)...

^ +1, there looked to be lots of clearance.

i'm on OEM tire sizes 225/245 and have not rubbed yet, and i'm on Z suspension. i was worried at first because the gap looks so tight, but so far so good...

255 on that wheel is already getting sorta close. Mix in a 40 aspect ratio and the larger dia and I can believe the guy. Well obviously with the pics of the rubbed tire.

Also depends on WHICH tire maker. One maker's 255 is actually thinner/wider than another maker.

ie.. my 255 sport pilot looks no wider than the re050 245 it replaced.

I should also mention that it was also ONLY on the right tire, and this is AFTER an alignment (alignment all in the acceptable ranges). I believe the 255/40/ is tall enough to bottom out over bumps with a heavy load in the trunk. Still unclear why it was only my right side.

i dont understand how you are rubbing. 265/40 but on 18's was what i did. on 350z track wheel. same width offset as you.

i had no problems prior to lowering the car i ran it for a week, hit pot holes and people in the back. Once i lowered Z springs in the back and 100lbs rub rub rub ONLY on pass rear. But my rub was more of the inside rub then outside, the gas filler neck was hitting my tire a lot, outside got hit only on dips.

For a smaller, light wheel you could go with 350Z track 18s.

G35 sedan sport 18s are nice but heavy. I don't see why you're giving up on the 19s, with the right tire they are fine.

They are way too heavy for me and slow my car down a lot. The wheel you recommended looks nice, thanks a lot.

It's not only the weight. It's the diameter of the wheel. The bigger the wheel diameter, the more torque needed to move the car. There is thread regarding this with the scientific explanation behind it, but a quick example we can relate to is drag racing. You'll notice most drag wheels are 15-16". Below are the rays specs for the entry above.

Rays Forged 19"
Optional 19" G35 forged wheels
Optional 19" G35 forged wheels

Super-Light Weight Forged Aluminum Alloy
Front
Size: 19x8.0
Offset: +30mm
Weight: 19 lbs
Tire: 225/40-19

Rear
Size: 19x8.5
Offset: +33mm
Weight: 21 lbs
Tire: 245/40-19

^^^ I've seen that list in several threads (on various forums)... it originated on 350ZTech I believe...

its the only reference I've ever seen - but its the exact same list that gets regurgitated... I'd like to see another source or better yet see them on a scale...

Does anyone have first hand weight?
