^I know when the Honduh punted me into the median, I wish I had the aluminum one, it would have kept a bunch of dirt and crap from getting kicked up into my engine bay, and probably saved the front bumper... thou in hindsight, I got the HikkataDori out of the deal, so no complaints there 
The way I see it, the more protection to the bottom of the engine, the better... what if that rock johnny hit wouldn't have had anything between it and the oilpan
(or just the flimsy stock piece)

, but if the force of the impact is directed into a metal point of attachment, then less damage will likely occur

Heavy aluminium (thick so I've heard) mounted to fiberglass is never a good idea, then the fiberglass taking a beating daily will probably end with no belly and no front bumper.

id like to see pics of of one of these mounted to a slammed car, im curious as to how much clearance there actually is

I'd like to say I'm pretty well slammed and its def saved me from some oil pan damage already.
And it would be kinda hard to take a picture of it on my car cause I cant even fit my foot under my bumper

Should be all good then, I dont see why anyone would be constantly hitting this thing hard, I think the risk of slamming your oil pan hard on something and having this protect it outweighs the possibility of slamming the pan hard enough, and enough times to crack the fiberglass composite subframe.. remember ppl it is a composite, its not like its aero kit fiberglass =P
