So glad I just stumbled across this thread

Heph, I'd take that rear back to your painter and tell them to match it better, though...it's quite a bit brighter than the rest of the car!

^color match isn't too bad actually if you compare shade vs shade and highlight against highlight. The upper surface above the crease catches more light as well.

Here are a couple of pics facing the other direction where the rear looks darker.

Guess it's just one of those things you have to see in person. That's the one thing that's always put a bad taste in my mouth about silver cars, every panel always looks discolored due to the highlighting!

My DP paint has always looked different colors and shades depending on the lighting- it is really kind of a weird optical illusion type thing.

blksedan - the only problem with black cars - tough to photograph well.
