Used plasti-dip. Seemed a bit sketchy to me at first, but it came out great. I wanted to match the look of my black roof.

What is plastidip?
I've painted a tonne of grilles but I have no idea what the hell it is!

Oh I've used that, it's just not called plastidip here in Canada.

Give PlastiDip a shot. It's pretty rugged and can withstand some beating. I've applied it to 3 different grilles over the past couple of months, and the results are great. It's so easy too.Originally Posted by JaE35

You didn't prep good enough.Originally Posted by JaE35

Mine's been painted for close to a year and I only have two very small chips (more like nicks.)
Sand the grill really good with 400 then 800
Prime with a primer that has a really high adheision
Paint a lot of thin layers (thick is bad)
Clear coat (You can get matte or flat clear in a rattle can too)
oh and sand between each step.
Or, you may want to give the plasti-dip a shot, IDK as I've never used it.
