Deuce's Progression thread ! ! ! ! !
I am going to document the journey of my G35 in this thread :thewave: Owned it for 2-3 years now and had my ups and downs with it, almost sold it, but decided to keep it and put it through a transformation this year once and for all. I created a wishlist awhile ago but never fulfilled it. Hopefully now i will. Started out like this, 03 Brilliant silver sedan with 64,000 miles: http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/123...449resized.jpg Installed tints, got the Z spring combo  http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/7862/1002664h.jpg Full Matte black vinyl wrap! the process.. http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/8809/0818090037.jpg http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/1882/0903091347.jpg http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/2670/img4341r.jpg Time to paint headlight housing and grille to match:JAMIN: Z-tube installed http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/3188/img4598y.jpg http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/2904/img4605o.jpg http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/5962/img4615d.jpg after alot of work, here it is.. http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/1793/img4635i.jpg http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/889/img7296f.jpg http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/8239/img7299n.jpg Decided to purchase some wheels. Not the best out there but I enjoyed them for a month or two, then the front offset really started to annoy me :/ Would've looked much cleaner with another inch or 2 drop i know! my favorite part (the back end) http://img860.imageshack.us/img860/5870/img5102o.jpg http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/5686/img5128.jpg http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4199/img5151c.jpg http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/5863/img6458e.jpg http://img860.imageshack.us/img860/6...rkand2more.jpg Now it sits without the wheels, and at the exact moment it is half matte black and half brilliant silver :) I am currently taking the vinyl off, and cleaning up the left over adhesive which is annoying. I also purchased a non-doggy door trunk with filled in holes and it is currently getting painted BS. Feels good to go back to brilliant silver, i truly missed it. Hopefully I will be nearly finished by this years sedan gathering. looking forward to seeing you all! Will be updating this thread with pictures as time progresses. 04/27/2011 - Trunk Painted http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/3...1104271324.jpg 05/11/2011 - dropped off front bumper for repaint http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/2...1105111144.jpg 05/18/2011 - bumper on and car cleaned. Haha i attempted to wrap my car in vinyl also. What vinyl did you use?
|
It actually looked nice with vinyl bit nothing beats a shiny car...
|
nice start
|
I used oracal vinyl. It was a pain in the *** though lol. Taking it off isnt fun either.
Ya i loved it in the beginning but after about a year it had small scratches and it wasnt as appealing. |
Heist you have someone to mentor!!!! Great work man looked great with the wrap and wheels!

Thanks, its something ive never seen before so i tried it. All the new cars come with all red nowadays :)
Bad news though, the vinyl ripped off the paint off the front bumper :/ and im sure it wiill be the same with the back bumper. What are some good aftermarket front bumpers? What are my options. |
I hear ya, taking the vinyl off is a pain!
The only pic of my wrap, not quite finished. http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...IMG00150-1.jpg |
Oh damn you went with a wrap too? I saw your car at the Burbank meet we used to have like 2 yrs ago.
Do you have left over adhesive on your paint? If so how are you getting it off? Im suffering and goo gone isnt really working. |
Check out 3m adhesive remover, that goo gone does NOT help!
|
Found a great solution, get clay that you use to clay bar your car and get a spray bottle with carwash soap and water. Spray water on the clay and surface of car and use the clay to rub off the adhesive. Its been working great for me so far
|
Damn seriously? I tried claying it but it barely helped!
