A gloomy day photoshoot
Looking good my friend!
For some constructive criticism, I go to an art college and I just can't help but give my .02...
Please don't take this the wrong way I'm in no way trying to diss your photo skillz, just trying to give other ideas if you see fit...
I assume you are using photoshop? I get the whole gloomy theme and if you were going for the flat look you achieved it with flying colors. The only thing is that your left with flat images. I guess I have always had a thing for hi-contrast. (again, this is all IMHO) What setting did you use for all of those gradients/filters? I don't know what your level of understanding photoshop is but might I suggest trying out the "Color Burn" You can use it with gradients and the paint bucket and I love using it. *Keep in mind it matters what colors you have selected*
Anyway, I'll quit rambling on but you got some great shots and I'm glad you found a cool location! Also keep in mind that generally overcast days are better for taking photos because of camera's limitations! You have some great images to work with!

Thanks for the advices. I'm familiar with the color burn filter but I was actually trying to get a faded, dark, sad, theme going. I believe that had I used color burn it would have "revived" the scene a bit too much imo. Nevertheless, I was glad to hear constructive criticism as I'm nothing more than a beginner.
turboale and speeed,
speeed, I think I saw you are in Stamford CT, correct? I used to live there for about 6 mos, then moved to Norwalk for a year. Nice area. Very nice photos. Keep it up, man. I now live in an industrial town in PA...Coatesville. There is a steel mill here that would be a great backdrop for pics of the car (and also my bike). Also, you are a network engineer? I'm a software developer...sort of your counterpart. You are not happy with your career?
turboale, what art college do you go to? I was a fine arts major in college. I actually have a BFA in fine art...majored in Printmaking and minored in Drawing but I never got into computer/graphic arts. I would love some more tips on photo-manipulation. PM me sometime!
Thanks guys! Take care.

Speed,
Also play with the levels of the backgrounds... Try and go for dark/gloomy and not dark/flat. It definitely is unique, but I have never been one for flat photos. There are ways in making a place look gloomy w/o going the flat route. I would try playing with the saturation a bit, push it in either direction. First bump it up a bit and see what it does, then pull it way back so there is little color at all and push the contrast up a bit. If you only select the background while doing this the car will pop right out.
Aperk,
I'll drop you a PM to keep this OT...

could you send me an un-touched version? Its much easier to start with an image that hasn't had most of the info removed
If you want send it to turboale@mac.com

Sure, the more info the better! If you want to zip it or something that could help file size... I have a gig max on my mail so it should be fine so long as your mail carrier doesn't have a max file size... do you have anyway to upload it somewhere? I guess we could get on aim or something and send it that way...
