Perfect side-by-side comparison to our standard 18". Nice work!

Sorry for the confusion .. those are still the stock front wheels and tires on the car. This was just an experiment to see if I could get the 285's on the rear. The fronts will be 8.5 wide with 245 tires. They should come outward nicely.

heh heh ... not quite . They are a couple of landscape lights I took out that are laying next to a brick planter. I guess the water hose kinda looks like the wagon handle too.

If your combination of size and offsets are no more agressive than what I have, you should have no problem what so ever. If this experimental set up rubbed, my fall back position would have been either to go with 275 in the rear, shave down a little off the mounting surface (DPE says no more than 3mm), or to add a little camber back into the rear. Remember, the camber kit corrects the camber by moving the TOP of the rear tires outward - actually giving it a higher chance of rubbing the inner fender. This set up would have been easy with no camber kit on a lowered car.

Actually, the chrome lips are harder than polished bare aluminum lips so it should be harder to scratch (I hope!). But the downside is the risk that a bent rim will not be repairable and will need replacing (chrome will start to come off?). The brushed aluminum center is also misleading. Even though is it described as brushed, is actually has a baked-on clear coat. For all intents and purposes, the center is actually painted.

I'll append to this thread after the whole wheel/tire package is installed. Thanks all for the feedback and words of encouragement!

Since you wanted to run 285s in the rear, did you consider going with 255s up front on a 9" rim to lessen the understeer of running such wide tires in the back? Based on your measurements, do you think 255s on 20x9 +35 to +40 would fit w/o rubbing up front?

Beautiful Terry, that is going to look fantastic when you get the full set installed. I can hardly wait to see your pics of the finished product.

I've seriously thought about it. I couldn't find enough data out there to come to a conclusion if it would work or not. So far, there is only GEE35X who has 255 in the front (and rear), but his car is not lowered and he is on 8.5". There are a couple of cars with 9" and even one with 9.5", but none of them are using 255's.

The other problem I have is that I will eventually get upper arms when they become available which will of course move the tops of the front tires out-board.

I may have a few options on my fronts though. Due to limitations on the forging blank and a three piece wheel; in order to get the 37mm offset I specified and clearance for a BBK, DPE had to make a set of custom 4mm spacers. If I end up not needing the spacers, my front offset will actually become 41mm.

I'll have to take a good look at what I end up with to see what is possible.

Thanks .. but again, I still don't have full tread tires on there. I'm more comfortable with the idea of 285's, but there is still some work to be done.

Here's another comparison I thought would be helpful. Stock lug nut on left, non-locking Rays nut in middle, and locking Rays nut on right (slot intentionally distorted in picture). I think the Rays nuts are very ingenious.
