Request for pics of ipod interface
Can anyone please post some of the screen shots to show how the ipod interface looks on the lcd screen of a 2008 G35? The dealer I talked to says it looks like very similar to what shows up on the ipod's screen. Is this the case?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Here's a video posted by bostonmerlin on the G37 forum showing the iPod integration in action. Although this is a G37, the one on the 08+ G35 works exactly the same way. This video made me wait for the 08 G35 instead of getting an 07:
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3mnIOmIPrR0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3mnIOmIPrR0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
As you can see, the integration works exceptionally well. In addition to controlling the ipod using the big scroll wheel below the LCD screen, you can also toggle through menus using the little flipper on the steering wheel and pushing the flipper pushes the "enter" key.
The only minor complaint I have is it doesn't have a way to scan the alphabet quickly. For example, if you do an artist search and you want to play songs by ZZ Top, you will be scrolling for a LOOOOOONNNNNNG time to get to "Z" depending on how many artists you have on your ipod. If you want to search for a particular song, same issue applies.
In the video, bostonmerlin turns the scroll wheel to go down the list. There is also a "down" button on the LCD menu which lets you skip down 5 names at a time so it's pretty useful up to about 100-150 entries. More than that, and it gets extremely tedious to find a certain song or artist.
That said, I never really listen to my music that way. I have everything in playlists and it works exceptionally well.
Another thing - you have full access to all iPod controls while the car is in motion.
