Pictures from El Mirage
So I went over to el mirage this Wednesday to do some car photography and some fun driving.
El Mirage is in So Cal and is a dry lake bed where you can legally drive as fast as your car can safely drive. We did runs at approx 135 over 1.5 miles. Lots of fun and have some great pictures. I also turned off the traction control to see what would happen it I hit the gas and released the clutch.... yikes.... but made for good pictures.
Looking at the car in the mirage.... I guess that is why they call it El Mirage...

Shot with 400mm showing mirage and dust cloud

Passing at high speed

Sliding in the dust... make sure you have plenty of space

Beauty shots near sunset... car is very dusty...

Keep in mind that it is a "at your own risk" There are large areas where it is smooth but you can come up on a rough spot, a place with a hole or a bush, and hitting that at 100+ mph is bad. During the weekend it is crowded with ATVs and windsailers on wheels (forgot what they are called) so the driving is a little riskier.
Really, the best analogy is that is is like a normal lake, and your car is like a boat. You can go fast and it many directions, but there are hazards out there.
Oh yeah... it is also very hot. Plus I turned off the air for more HP, and had the windows closed to keep the dust out.
