Are those the R40 Revo lug nuts with the end caps, or the open ended ones?

Quote: Thanks dude, you know what they say great minds think alike , and did you torque your lugs at 80ft/lbs?

I'm just annoyed because I haven't been able to clean my car to take pics so I can post them on here. Hopefully today I'll get some free time and get it done.
Hahah... Yup, we definitely do!

I usually torque the lugs to 90 ft-lbs, myself, but 80 to 85 ft-lbs should be sufficient.

FWIW, tighter is not always better.
Over torquing can actually stretch the studs & weaken them.
I usually torque to 75 on a fresh install, then re-torque to 80lbs after about 50km.

/\ Yup, 80 lbs here as well.
My dealer knows me now. If they do any "wheels off" work, they pull the car out with the lugs at 60-65. I then take out my torque wrench and tighten them myself.
They over torqued my lugs once, It won't happen again.

^ good point. However, as a rule of thumb, anything under 90 ft-lbs for most passenger cars / light trucks and 120 ft-lbs for most full size trucks should not come close to compromising the integrity of the stud. Note that this is a "rule of thumb" and there are exceptions to this rule.

I was an ASE certified alignment technician and also Managed a tire store for 6 years, and I can tell you from experience, it is much more dangerous to under torque, especially on soft wheel materials such a aluminum. 75 ft-lbs is the bare minimum I would torque the lugnuts on our cars.

^Good point re the soft aluminum.
One of the reasons it's important to re-torque.

Thanks dude, I'm planning on getting the chrome window surrounds covered with the vinyl strip soon hopefully.

and the R40 lug nuts are open ended and I don't think they're the Revo ones because they're open ended. I tried to source the caps for them but someone told me they only fit the Revo ones and I don't think mine are Revo, I got them from Amplified so are these Revo or not? ----> http://amplifiedmotorsport.com/item....=7&subcatid=50

Yeah when I took my wheels off I found one nut in the rear was on sooo damn tight that I actually snapped the head, thank got there was another nut that I could grab and twist to get it out. I hate garages here because they always think tighter is better

lol yeah well here they don't understand when you speak to them, honestly most garages I go to I know more about cars than they do, kinda scary which is why I hardly leave my car with them

Yup, good point. It's definitely important to re-torque them after the first 50 - 100 miles. This is especially important when using acorn style lug-nuts like most aftermarket wheels use. Loosening isn't as much an issue with the factory style shanked lugnuts, but I still recommend re-torquing these as well, just to be safe.

These are the exact same ones I'm using, except I'm not using the end caps.

^ ahhh, I've been looking for someone running these.
Do you find the lug nuts seat/torque better with the floating seats?

Unfortunately not , I got the Neo Chrome R40's to match the Invidia Titanium tips, but they don't stand out on the rims I'm running so I wanted to put on the end caps, BUT "supposedly" they only fit the Revo . I'm pretty sure I could stick 'em on somehow lol

How do the caps stick to the lugs? Do they seat into those 5 holes in the middle?

I don't really notice a difference when torquing them down.. They may offer slightly more even torquing, but it's probably not significant. What I have noticed is that when the seat on these bottoms out againt the wheel and you continue to to rotate the head of the lugnut, the seat actually does stop rotating, as advertised, so it will not damage (or minimizes the damage) or gall the wheel. I can definitely tell a difference from looking at the SSR wheels on my Porsche where I have the Rays lugnuts and the ones where I'm using these R40 lugnuts. I'm definitely gonna use these lugnuts on all future wheel applications.

Quote: Well yeah I nearly always have my plate up, on when I'm in the spirited driving mood and on a motorway or something then I'll close it.

Or when I park up somewhere I'd close it, or when I go to the car wash lol.

The police here will stop me if they didn't see a plate, but I can easily open it up by the time they walk up to my car (they spend 5min in their car waiting for you to come out and go to them) I always refuse to get out of my car and wait for them to walk over lol, I've just been taught the European style of how to deal with police , but you guys in UAE have it much worse. I mean the amount of speed cameras you guys have are pathetic lol.

Oh and I might be in Dubai next week for the Gulf food exhibition, not sure yet because my passport is being renewed back in the UK and might not arrive in time. Anyway enough ranting, enjoy and I'll try and post up some pics with the rims later this week
Yeah we do get screwed with the speed cams...oh well...
Can't wait for pics with the new rims.
Let me know if you're heading down to Dubai.
