Keep in mind that if the slots are backwards then the vanes are backwards. The vanes should be oriented so they "scoop" up the air as they rotate, so they should actually go "against" the direction of rotation. Yours are going "with" the direction of rotation.

Thanks for posting back and helping me out with this. Much appreciated
No problem. Just want to make sure you are getting the full benefit from your brakes. I know Mike @ RB was pretty adamant about installing these with the slots and vanes facing the correct direction... note that since these have open slots, the slots match the direction of the vanes unlike the picture on RB's website.

This is getting just a tad confusing Please bear with me.

Right now, my vanes are scooping, but the slots are facing the other way.

From what i understood from Mike, the vanes are not supposed to scoop. I am waiting on clarification from him on that one.

On a similar note, reading up on some material, it seems there are two trains of thought for the way directional vanes should be oriented:

- "Scooping" to, well, scoop up air as the rotor turns and effectively cooling down both disc (first) and hats (second).

- Opposite, or against the flow, as shown in RB's illustration. I forgot the technical term for it, but it's so the hot air is "whisked" or evac'd away from the disc as it turns. Something to do with vacuum, vortices and such. Same description RB has on the illustration.

Man, way to start a week.

veins are NOT supposed to "scoop" cool air, they're supposed to "vent" the heat away. slots face opposite direction to retain structural integrity. please STOP over thinking this people. just fallow the directions provided.

^exactly
The ventilation vanes run the opposite direction of the slots that you see.
