I'll settle for the 7-speed automatic (in a sedan). I almost traded in my 06 x for an 08 the other day, now I'm glad I didn't as the G will probably get that tranny soon as well.

Infiniti says that the new 5.0L engine in the FX50 has infinite variable valve lift and that it puts BMW's Valvetronic system to shame.

In dubai and japan it already has the 7 speed transmission. Actually i think the g35 coupe had it as well (2005 +). It is a different type of transmission though.

Like any redesign, it's going to have people who like it and people who dislike it. I personally am finding the new FX extremely good looking. At first, I wasn't a big fan of the front, however now I am finding it extremely aggressive and sexy.

No. The 7A/T in the FX is an all new design by JATCO. The FX will be the first vehicle to get this transmission. You're thinking of the CVT Nissan used in the JDM V35 Skyline Sedan 350GT-8. That was NOT an 8 speed torque converter automatic. It was a CVT that had the option of being shifted "manually" via 8 preset "ratios" when the car was put into "manual" mode.

Not really. I would have thought the same, but I researched it a little bit and they are not that much (but still pricey). According to an Infiniti press release, the FX50 will wear 265/45-21 tires on the 21" wheels. After finding this out, I was interested to see what options there were for that size. Guess what!? (BIG SURPRISE HERE) -- There's only ONE company that I could find who makes that size...................Bridgestone. Hmm, doesn't Infiniti currently use Bridgestone as their OEM tires?? And if that weren't suspicious enough, on TireRack.com they've marked this size with a little red star......which means "New Tire Available". Looks like Bridgestone released this new size just in time for the 2009 FX release. How convenient that Bridgestone is the only manufacturer out there who makes a tire in that size.

Bridgestone Dueler HL 400 - Price from TireRack.com $210 each.

Remind me never to get an FX with 21" wheels.

Not feeling the front either...not liking the headlights & what appear to be fake cooling vents on the sides look so ghetto on this SUV IMO....who knows, they may grow on me, but right now, they look out of place.
