Cheers lads....
Cheers lads....
Hey all,
Just a quick note too say I love seeing new post on this site. As far as the rush hour traffic story goes here are my thoughts. Back in the UK (where I am from) and much of Europe, drivers have more respect of other motorists, specially using the faster lanes, for passing etc. I have never understood drivers in the Chicago area, who take massive risks too themselves and others, driving in adverse conditions just too save a few minutes in some cases off their journey times.
Since I ever owned a car (age 17, in London an old Mini Clubman 1275gt), I really have had a respect for the car (it was a piece of crap in reality), what it cost me too buy and other drivers. Don't get me wrong, I love too drive fast, but I certainly do it in a controlled environment without risk too myself or others.
Here's something I have noticed; when you own/drive a nice car everyone wants too show you "how well they can drive or how fast they can go". It's absolutley true and when you see idiots driving pieces of crap, especially in bad/congested traffic that have too show off, it just makes mr realize what a crazy world we live in. I own a G35 04 sedan, a Honda S2000 and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I can honestly say, that knowing what these cars cost me, not too mention the thought of damamging one, I respect other drivers and my own driving skills. When you see a Dodge Intrepid, or some ***** piece of crap peform ridicoulus driving tactics, remember this..your G can outperform them at about 3000rpm..you don't have too even try, so why bother.
Cheers all.

Re: Cheers lads....
Lol....yeah...chicago drivers are pretty nuts i tell ya....some pass on the shoulder...which i think is really crazy.....but ive been in the Philippines a couple of times and im expected to go back at the end of this month with the rents....but man those drivers are really nuts. People will litterly drive on the wrong side of the road just to get thru traffic, people will run red lights if they have to wait twenty seconds or longer if no traffic has passed. Buses will cut you off by a few inches, and better yet when the cut you off they look like they are going to tip over. I am thankful that I live in the US and we don't have crazy drivers like in the Philippines. And if you ever go to the Philippines and do drive there...you are guarrenteed to get into a bumper to bumper traffic jam.....But if you know how to drive in the Philippines without getting into a accident, you can drive anywhere in the world.
Yeah ive been to London...and yup you are right cuz i noticed the people there a lot more respectful....but speed racers lol.
Just be careful man.....when racing on the highway....cops are not to leanient on street racers. Drive safe man.

Re: Cheers lads....
i know this is an old thread, but...
oooh! did someone say philippines?? that place makes NYC, LA, chicago, miami, etc look like everyone there can drive. in the philippines, lines, traffic lights, pedestrian right of way, and traffic cops are there, but don't seem to exist to anyone. it's a circus but it's kind of fun driving around, as long as i'm not the one behind the wheel.
ps there's some filipino joke where if you get hit by a jeepney, the driver will probably back up and hit you again because a casket/burial bill will be cheaper than hospital bills. have fun and good luck on your trip xmax!
