Re: Great Lakes Dragaway...
ill be going to GLD on the 7th, its also free to run on that day too, im expecting a smaller crowd than on a weekend. So that is the reason im trying to avoid the weekend. But i am also going to Byron Dragway on the 17th with a bunch of Nissan guys. You are more than welcome to join us if you like.

Re: Great Lakes Dragaway...
Im prolly going to head up there by myself, but im going to be meeting other people there....cuz we have different schedules and different routes. Im prolly expecting no more than 6 people that i would recognize at GLD on the 7th. But on the 17th we are expecting about 20+ Maximas/I30's and a dozen more different other Nissan's and Infiniti's. If you wanna join me, juss pm me or email me at ghttopnoy@aol.com and ill give you my celly number or all the info you need. For either or both track dates.

Re: Great Lakes Dragaway...
I was just out at GLD today. Not alot of people there in the AM....but once noon hit...they had to open up all 4 lanes. Not much challenge for imports out there. I had my WRX today. Most of the imports I saw were running 14s including 2 EVOs and a SRT4 (people should learn to drive those). I was running around the 13.2 area...ok, but not my best. I think I am going to be spending some more time out there. If you see a white guy in a Blue 04 WRX with silver decals on the hood, and a black helmet chances are its me...so say hi.

Re: Great Lakes Dragaway...
vf34 turbo, turbo back exhaust, uppipe, ecu reflash, better flowing fuel system. Than some suspension stuff. Only spent about 4K on the car so far.....need to buy rims and tires. Of course I have only had it since November. The cost IMHO of modifiying my g35 was WAY to high. At least for what you get out of it. I am not sure how fast the TT kits run, but for 8K I could have a WRX that runs 11s. Of course...If I wanted a fast drag car I would just get a WS6 or a Z06. I figure the WRX is my toy, while the g35 is the "nice" car for looking good and church.

Its sounds like you had fun at GLD, the Greddy TT kits for 350/G35C runs about $6500. A buddy with a EVO 8 ran a 12.2 with only 1000 bucks worth of mods at Byron, but Byron is know to be a fast track. I dunno why but i seem to get higher trap speeds there than at GLD.

Anyone here was at GLD last night? I saw a Brilliant Silver Sedan, and a DG coupe. The coupe parked right next to me, which it came with a mid 90's black Camaro when it arrived.

Hey Xander,
How did u do at the track? I really wanted to go but couldn't make it. I'm crossing my fingers for the 18th...and I also want to go to mazda rev it up in arlington heights.

Re: Great Lakes Dragaway...
It was ok, i disapointed in my times, considering i was running with a bad wheel bearing. My time just kept on getting worse and worse thru out the day. The track was slick since it was pretty chilly out and the track was cold too. But i had fun running my car down the strip. It wasn't that busy at all, I was able to get about 10 runs in. But this weekend im going to Byron to try to break into the 14s, in my autotragic 97' Max.

Re: Great Lakes Dragaway...
Yup Byron is a dragway. There is also Great Lakes Dragway up in Union Grove, Wisconsin. And Route 66 in Joliet, but they are tech ****'s there, they check every little thing, but fully understandable when you have big events there.
Here is the directions to Byron.
1) I-90W to I-39S
2) 3 Miles on I-39S
3) Merge onto US-20W
4) 6 Miles on US-20W
5) IL-2 S exit towards Dixon
6) Turn slight right onto IL-2 S
7) You will run parallel with the Rock River for about ten minutes, you will pass into Ogle County...
8) You will enter town after a right hand curve, SLOW DOWN (reduce speed zone...) and you will pass a Subway on the right hand side, and will approach a stop light, with a Mobil gas station on your left side, and further up ahead past stop light on your right side is a BP station. At this stop light, turn LEFT.
9) You will drive over the bridge of the Rock River (I believe this little stretch is 72 (yeah, same Higgins as in NW burbs )
10) Turn right at stop sign, you will again drive parallel to the river, but now river is on your right side.
11) A minute or two of driving, Byron will be on your left side.
