G in the chi?

Hello everyone. I have recently moved near the loop in chicago and i would like to know if the G is a good car for me.
I absolutly love everything about the G.
However i am worried about the RWD. I am 18.
I have heard that during winter the G= crap.
I love this car and dont want 2 put my sights on anything else but i really willbe screwed if i get in2 an accident.
Basically i am just asking. will the car be capable of surviving the winter if i drive safely or are the stories as bad as i hear?

P.s. sorry about all the grammer mistakes
THANK YOU!

My G is AWD, so I can't offer too much help.
I think if you get a good set of winter tires for the season, you should be fine.

Was when I had mine on. You still don't have very good ground clearence. I finally ended up buying a used GMC Jimmy with 4x4. Plus its nice to have two cars...

I have a 2003 G35 coupe, and live near the loop.

If you're going to be staying in the city, then your fine with snow tires. I have snow tires and drive the g35 all winter, every day. The suburbs are more challenging - I think twice and check weather conditions before heading out there

Winter driving is no different than summer....oopps sorry I just noticed you live
in Chicago. You should be alright with a good set of snow tires, just be
cautious and keep plenty of distance between the cars in front of you....like
normal.

+1 on snow tires. They are like night and day and will help alot. We had a pretty harsh winter last year in Chicago and they are prediciting another similar season this year. I would recommend picking up a used set of rims and some good snow tires such as Bridgestone Blizzaks.

G in the winter with snow tires is fine. I would have no problem driving mine in the snow, if I wanted to, I did last winter.

I think the G is fine with snow tires. I live about 15 mins from the loop and I drive once a while in the winter.

I go on days like today when its dry out. If it snows, I try to stay out of that kind of weather since they like to throw salt on our roads and we all know what that does to our cars

As for the other question...if you can get it, the G is a very nice car for you. Insurance may be on the high side because of your age but again, if you can swing it I'd say go for it

What color are you considering?

Oh yeah don't forget about chicagoz.com

I live in Chicago and just bought a 05 G35X.. My car was at the dealer getting new tires and they gave me a 05 G35 w/ out all wheel drive...

I got stuck on some ice and a puddle within 20 minutes of having the car..
In my opinion I would definatly not buy a G w/ out all wheel drive!!
