Thanks for posting the info ... unfortunately I'll be traveling in the other direction to visit family.

I'm still considering/planning the MAM track day in August, so perhaps we can meet up then.

Wasn't me

I've spotted a number of G coupes in Des Moines recently ...

A IP with aftermarket wheels, turning on to I35 South. We shared a glance, so he saw me coming up in the left lane ... a couple days ago

Then a OB coupe ... They had debadged however ... they, or previous owner, removed only the Mt. Fuji on the tail ... leaving the Infiniti and G35 ?! The Miss-guided youth these days, I tell ya.

Then a IP, or darker gray, coupe while I was out for a run .... and on the same path I spotted two G35s in one garage... nice! ... a couple and a G35x sedan.

... I've been thinking of how to share with them G35driver.com. In those situations I couldn't have spoken to or stopped them

You should get the g35driver.com stickers and toss them on your ride. Thats how you can almost ALWAYS tell its me. If you see an IP, lowered, with dark @ss tint and g35driver.com stickers on the rear windows. Thats me! Also, as of next monday, i'll have my new vanities which say 1NICG35.

Actually yeah

... Nothing major, but JDM Clear Corners
http://hettingers.smugmug.com/gallery/9070024_kM9F8

And I found an excuse to make a mess in my garage and try my hand at some fiberglass work.

The project is a custom sealed enclosure for a 10" sub-woofer to sit in the trunk, tucked into the driver's side. The amplifier will sit on a similarly finished fixture on the passenger side. The finish, as I see it now, will be a high gloss black finish to complement the exterior.

This will be done with all of the trunk carpet in place, un-modified. I'm planning these in such a way they can be easily removed from the trunk for more room, track days, solo events etc. Even the cables will have quick disconnects.

I'll be doing this work this week ... Tuesday - Saturday evenings (August 4th - 9th)

I'm following something along the lines of this process:

See the cardboard mockup now and eventually the final product gallery here:
http://hettingers.smugmug.com/gallery/9050997_pfmU7

... If this goes well enough and I finish the project like I visualize it. I'll consider doing it again for someone if they'd be interested.

Thanks, I'll be updating the gallery with photos of the process ... I've considered creating a walk through of my own, there are some steps I've learned about that these others glaze over without mention.

Pretty cool. I thought about getting the 4080 enclosure, but then realized that I wouldnt be able to get my golf clubs in and out, so I ditched that idea. I like where you're going with your idea though, that should be pretty sweet when you're done.

As for me, I havent dont jack lately. After I lowered her and tossed in the gialla grill, Ive left her alone. I think I may do the bumper light/signal mod this weekend though. Saw a pretty good write up on it today. I MAY possibly get my spacers before the winter hits, OR i may just use that money to buy some beater wheels and toss on some winter tires for the snow. Either that, or get a beater car. I havent really decided yet. I hear the guys in the heavy snow states get along just fine with a good set of winter tires. And we dont get crap for snow.... So... I dunno, i may risk it. Not sure how I feel about the salt issue though.

For winter tires I have had the Dunlop Winter Sports recommended to me by a number of friends who have used them. They have preferred them over Bizzaks. Just a thought.

I also looked at the enclosure products ... guess I initially felt I didn't want to spend what they were asking for them. Of course, I then turned it into the pursuit of doing the project on my own ... Which of course means I've put as much money into the project already as just buying one of those pre-mades ... However I'll have a more personal and custom to my tastes product at the end of the adventure.

Werd, thanks for the suggestion. The salt thing is still a worry. My G hasnt ever been north of TX before I brought her to NE (I bought mine down in AZ). So... eh... Im really leaning towards garaging her and getting some kinda beater.

Hey Hey, I'll add to the numbers. Just bought mine last week in Lincoln. After taxes and license fees I'll hopefully start doing some mods.

Welcome to the club Briareus!

BTW ... Another bump for my suggestion for a meet up in the Omaha area the weekend of August 22nd / 23rd. I will be in town one of these two days. As soon as I confirm which I'll post an update.

I will be driving over to Pacific Junction (20 mile S of C.B.) to take my G for another day on the track. I suggest those from the area come down to the track.

... Laid the first 2 layers of fiberglass on my project tonight. So far so good. My back is killing me though.
