Mike's Car Wash?? Opinions

i'm picking up my 05 Black 6MT today. knowing how badly black shows dirt, my plan was weekly washes at Mike's Car Wash. i've been using Mike's for 2 years on my wifes silver Odyssey with not problems.

however a friend with a black BMW told me repeated washes at Mike's has put tiny scratches all over his car.

Anyone here from Ohio or Indiana have any opinions or feedback on Mike's?

eeaton, congrats on the ride....i have a black coupe and i washed it today....i had the dealer detail it and they put swirl marks from the buffer all over the car....after washing the car the the marks were not as bad but i used Meguires NXT wax and the car looked amazing....nothing beats doing it yourself

i've never used mikes, but i would never trust anyone with my black car, the tiniest particle on a rag can leave a nasty scratch....

i got the wax at walmart for 13.79 and a large microfibre cloth for 6 bucks and a microfibre polishing cloth for 4 bucks from autozone....the large cloth was more then enough for the car and the polishing cloth was awesome as well

trust me man, do it yourself...never let the dealer wash it either

p.s. where is mikes located?

I used Mike's with my old cars, but not with my G or the FX. The Nissan/Infiniti paint just won't hold up to it. If you do use it, MAKE SURE you get a GOOD coat of CG on your car before you do it. ie. coating it with CG once, you could get 2-3 washes at Mike's done without it hurting the paint, then reapply after the 3rd wash.

Let me tell you- living in Vegas, I miss Mike's like no other. There are NO decent car washes here! NONE. We're so damn concerned with water conservation that it's like someone pees on your car when you go through one. Hate 'em.

If you can, wash the car by hand. However, if you're in a time crunch, Mike's does a good job though.

Later,
Larry

Mikes is good for the average car, but if you want to baby yours and avoid swirls, Mikes is a no-go.

Actually there is a high-end, new tech touchless in Bloomington that does an amazing job. I know someone who is planning to open a few in Indy.

Drive in, Swipe your debit card, spend $8 and get a wash better and safer than Mikes.

That is where I would go.
