96-98 Mustang Gt vs 05 G35

I was at McDonalds late last night in the drive-thru and a 96-98 Mustang GT was behind me revving his engine real loud. He shouted out to me and said, "hey man, I can take your Infiniti, easily". I asked him what he had because I know stock that year mustang was slow, but modded they can be a beast. He said he had DOHC I'm not sure if they came with that stock but he said they didn't and that he added it... o well, i figured it was 3 in the morning and we could run up to 70mph on a empty 4 lane road.

I'm not much of a street racer, haven't raced on the street with my car yet, but I thought under the conditions it wouldn't be that bad. We pulled up next to each other and I counted down and I just smoked him...bad. Up to 70 probably about 2 1/2 to 3 car lenghts and then we slowed down and lined up again and this time i let him get the jump on me and I still pretty much owned him, easily. He did his ricer fly-bye and I went home.

My roomate in the car agreed with me that my car doesn't feel fast at all but when you race someone you can tell it is fast. my last acura "felt" faster than this car but it would lose to the G35.

That's funny. I have a 98 Mustang GT parked right next to my G35 in my garage. If he TRULY had a DOHC (Cobra motor swap) he SHOULD have spanked you, considering that if he went through the trouble of the swap, he probably has full exhaust, other bolt-on's, and a tune (310-320rwhp and the same tq). If you beat him easily, it was probably just a stock GT. Without a power adder or head work, MOST won't run any better than 14.2 on a GOOD day.

Mine, as you can see from my sig, is a little bit faster.

I could of sworn that I was told in the past that the 96-98 mustangs would run at best high 14's...........I know for sure though that he didn't have a cobra swap. I'm not like a bunch of people on this board that likes to talk trash about mustangs, I like mustangs, but this guy was a tool. It was fun racing anyways and the car was 10 years old and probably abused, so I bet now he couldn't even break 14's with his.

My friends 98 Mustang GT 5spd ran 14.6 @ 95 bone stock. I've been trying to get him to line up with me, but it seems he's scared

The 96-98 GTs only had 225hp

The G should take them no problem.
