On my way to get clear bra installed and...

I was on my way to have the 3M clear bra installed on my hood, mirrors and front quarters and guess what. A rock hits me square in the front glass. It did not crack glass or anything, but I was worried it might have hit hood on the way up. Sure enough, when I get to the installation place there is my first stone chip right where the clear bra goes on the hood. So now I have a nice reminder sealed under my clear bra of my first stone chip. Figures it had to happen today.

LOL, I had a rock come up while driving home after my clear bra was installed.
Trouble is it missed the c/bra and nicked the paint on the hood.

Next new car I am going to have it installed at the dealer before I drive the car. But seriously, what can you do. Next one will probably be on the roof. I guess I will get the whole car covered.

Now you've got me worried. I'm planning on driving my brand spanking new coupe 1 1/2 hours to a VentureShield installer. The dealer where I got my car installs RoadBlock and charges twice as much. I've heard a lot of good things about VentureShield that's why I decided on it, as well as cheaper for all the coverage they'll do. Both have lifetime warranty.

Just drive the backroads on your way. Honestly what can you really do. If you drive your car every day you are bound to get stone chips. It sucks, but it is part of the experience. Otherwise you can just park it in the garage and look at it.

Hey DrG,
Sorry for your mishap.. I just picked up my 06 and read your predicament. Effected me enough to leave her in the garage her first week until I could get her in for a clear bra.. went with the 3M product. Im glad I added this protection, but I've been scoping out older Gs in the parking lot and noticed very few chips on them when unprotected.. dont know if its coincidence or just the angle of the hood.. but for a few hundred bucks, I'm glad to have the extra protection.. Im hoping to keep this new car for many years to come.

Man, I know exactly how you feel. I have my "reminder" smack in the middle of my bumper just below the grill.
