Ok I'm home safe after driving in the rain from Oakland to SF in my new G35 sport. I was sad about letting the Bimmer go...but after driving this baby I can't stop smiling! It was hard to limit the speed as this engine just wants to go full throttle. Beautiful car. I got black obsidian with graphite (dark grey) leather and premium package...no tech and nav.

Update: Here's a crappy photo from my phone just to officially prove it exists. will post more when the weather gets better

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum. Definitely post up some pics of your new ride in the Picture Share section when you get a chance.

Way different feel going from a Bimmer to the G35! I had a 330i. The in-line 6 is hard to beat for feel and response, but the new G35 engine can be improved, I recently discovered. The Bimmer also had a more buttoned down feel, but I found the interior a bit tight and austere. I like the G35 as it's hard to beat, especially for the price. It seems to get better with a few break-in miles, but I'm concerned that it may loosen up with the inevitable rattles over time, more so than with BMW. Time will tell.

Congrats on the new car. I'm liking the 07 sedan so much I'm considering getting one. I can't believe I said that...I'm a confirmed coupe man.
Are you gonna hook it up with wheels and drop?

Congrats! And welcome here!
This is a damn tight car - I think you'll be grinning for many miles to come!

Congrats, I went from a Z4 to a G. I feel your pain. Nice sunny days or cool nights I can't open the roof. The moon roof is just not the same.
I love the G. Great response, great steering, confidence of all wheel drive.
Your car in black looks fantastic. Enjoy!

I agree. The in-line 6 definitely set the bar pretty high. However, I do like the VQ35HR engine. It's pretty smooth, but power hungry. You can almost feel like it 's bored when you're not revving it hard enough. I'm currently at 425 miles now and I love this car. I need to get the windows tinted before summer. I'm also considering the invisible car bra. I don't think I'll drop it because I like the ride as it is right now. I really don't mess with suspensions until it's out of warranty or when it's brand new. Plus I really love the way it drives as it is.

I thought I wouldn't drop my GS300. I liked the ride and it wasn't too tall that it looked crazy....until I took it to a meet. I dropped it the next day. I'm using Tanabe NF210 springs. The give a 1 inch drop with a smooth luxury ride that's still performance. I guarantee you wouldn't be disappointed.

Trust me I know the differences with dropped suspensions. That's all I've ever driven in my former bimmer. I do love the sportiness of being able to "feel" the road, but now call me crazy but I love the way the G rides as it is. Maybe those Japanese engineers were on to something...
