New 08 G35X

Had the car for 2 days so far and i constantly have to resist the urge to just go sit in it while im supposed to be working. Premium and nav package, platinum graphite. This is my first new car and I want to have it around for a while so I have a few questions.

What exactly does a break in period mean? Should I be particularly gentle with the car for the first while? Special oil?

Is it really necessary to change oil every 3750? Even with synthetic? I will probably not be able to resist driving it pretty hard, and i dont mind spending on the upkeep, just want to know if its ridiculously unnecessary.

Has anyone purchased the infiniti elite maintenance package? I cant really decide if its worthwhile, maybe just easier. Any comments on Glendale Infiniti in LA? I dont have a mechanic right now.

Im sure I will have more questions, and will definitely try to be active on this forum, i think its great that theres a resource like this.

Thanks
Jeff

I should be right behind you, just waiting on loan approval from my credit union to get a G35x w/premium,navigation.

I believe the break-in period is about the first thousand miles where you want to vary your speeds, but try to keep the rpms under 4000. You should try not to redline. I would also change the oil after this break-in period, and then go with the recommended oil change intervals. Synthetic oil will hold up longer than conventional, so you could probably go 7500 miles between changes. I've only used conventional oil in the past, so synthetic people correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure what "elite maintenance" is, but I tend to avoid all dealer add-ons.

Do you mind me asking what you paid (pretax)? It may help me in my negotiations. Oh, and post pictures when you get the chance.

im a sucker

i paid full MSRP and didnt even get any little bonuses. My credit was non existent in the US since i recently moved from Canada, and they didnt have any other AWD with nav/prem in socal as far as i could tell so they didnt feel the need to negotiate. Also I needed the car quickly. Very bad way to buy a car but I have definitely learned alot from the process

MSRP came out to 39500

Pictures are attached. Thanks for the tips, all makes sense and i will certainly follow the advice.

Good luck with your purchase the car really is amazing!
