From Z to G

Finally gave up on the 05 yellow Z cos I needed the 2 back seats. I got the 08 35G on 12/30/07, it's a Journey model with 18" wheels, LP color..The G is running pretty smooth, but it's still in break-in period, so I havent really tested its full potential. I kinda like the exhaust note and the interior design is just awesome! A big improvement from the pervious G..the big screen and the blue/white dash lights are nice touch, which make the G looks more luxury and high tech.

However, the G's gas milage is not as the factory stated..I wonder how could they come up with 17 city, 24 highway?? I'm in no way close to those #s...maybe the engine is still new..I hope the gas milage will improve after the first 1,200miles. One more thing about the G is that the throttle response is sometimes unpredictable, for example, let say driving on highway for around 50mph..when I try to give it some more gas, the G would hold up the power for a moment and then do a sudden release of those power..I dont know if this is the way of how the G's throttle response, hopefully it will settle down a bit after the break in. All in all, the new G is an awesome sport sedan, it got the look and the power!

I also have this problem a lot and like you said do not know if this is how the throttle response is supposed to be. I got the TSB fix which reprograms the ECM and have noticed drastic improvements when taking off from a standstill (no more 0-20 mph in 0.1 seconds) but the above issue still remains.

the 50mph thing is when u give the car too much gas it will downshift and then accelerate, that is the lag you are talking about. it has been on all automatic g's. and if u had a manual Z, maybe thats why ur suprised. my friends automatic Z did the same thing. just a quirk one has to adjust too.

what kind of gas mileage are you getting? My MPG has improved somewhat after 4000 miles... I am currently average about 19 city and around 23 highway. so not bad.... Currently my car is telling me i am averaging 22.3 mpg.. but it's mostly highway driving.....

I'm getting about 17ish for mix of highway & local driving...Since I'm still in break-in period, I'm trying to take it easy and drive below 4000K RPM..

If you need to make a sudden burst of speed you're better off switching to DS mode, you get more control over the transmission.

The car is capable of good gas mileage, no worries.

Granted I have to baby my 6sp, I averaged 23mpg on the last tank with 30% city 70% highway travel. Highway is always 27-28 mpg.

After 3 tanks of gas..I noticed the gas milage has gradually improved..Right now I'm having about 21 avg for mix city/highway driving..Btw, I'm 400miles away to finish the break-in to find out the TRUE power of the G!!
