G35xS break in.

Hey! I am expecting my Platinum Graphite/ Graphite G35xS this week and was wondering how to break it in? Should I go all out for the first 20 miles or go by the book and stay under 4000k?

The car has every feature possible, will post pictures soon

Also, does anyone know the 0-60 on this model ?

Thanks !

Stay under 4k rpm. Brake smoothly.

Enjoy!

You'll soon come to realize that keeping this car under 4,000 RPMs is damn near impossible... even when trying to.
I actually had to use Manual mode more than the regular "D" mode during the dreaded break-in period.
You'll find that this car wants to run and run fast.
"M" mode helped me keep the car under the ceiling of 4,000.

I also took the break-in very seriously.
No ICC (vary RPMs), no hard starts or stops, no short trips, kept it under 4,000... drove it like a brain dead grandmother on valium.
(Although I may have cheated once or twice, maybe... purely accidental of course)

D, DS, and M
D - Regular Drive mode (Auto)
DS - Sport Mode (Auto)
M - Manual Mode (Next best thing to a Manual... and addictive)

Congrats.
I've had mine since April 07 and I still smile ear to ear every time I get near it.

That is so true. I picked up my G35xS couple weeks ago and its very hard to stay under 4000. I did however make a mistake once. My old car was a BMW and it had tiptronic. I was so used to pulling the shifter towards my body to upshift. I kind of forgot that on the G it is the other way around. So the car revved up to 5000 rpm. Other than that one time i have been driving around like a grandma...lol

Yes, right paddle is to upshift, left is to downshift.

Congrats on your ride. I also found it damn near impossible to keep the engine under 4k. As soon as I was over 2,000kms I let her loose....thing is just awesome.

As for 0-60, some of the mags have the X doing it in 5.2 seconds.

And don't forget to change the oil & filter after your break in period and before you floor it.

I've read that the best way to break in a car is to rape it very hard for 200miles, and then get an oil change. Apparently it seats the seals properly. Don't take my word on it though, http://www.motortrend.com/features/e...e_performance/

That article is based on four-stroke air-cooled engines, like lawn mowers. It is advice like that that makes me watch the delivery miles on a new car and very careful when buying a used vehicle. Although I do not have any hard scientific counter argument, common sense would dictate that "raping" a brand new car seems ill-advised and of no value. The best advice is an early oil change and following the manufacturers recommendation.
