Love my new G
Hi, folks. Got my new '08 G35x last night, and I'm really excited. Haven't driven it much yet, but it feels great to me. Flat beats my 6MT Acura TL for ride, technology, solidity, etc.
I'm an old ffff .. ellow, and have owned several dozen cars, including BMW 1600-2, Passat W8, Lex GS300, Supra, Maxima, '06 TL, Legend, MG, etc. My impression is that my new G is the best of the lot.
It's Lakeshore/wheat with Prem., Nav, and Tech. Had to skip sport because I had recent back surgery. Yow! Still, the car has everything I wanted, and I'm very impressed with it. I especially like how the interior has improved since the earlier models of the G--it's very classy now.
Driving dynamics seem great, but I won't really know until break-in is over. I'm a stickler about varying speed, minimizing short drives, keeping under 4,000 rpm, etc. The learning curve will be sort of long, but I'll hang in and learn every button, touch screen, voice command, and ****. :-)
Anyway, I'm very glad to have found this forum, and am looking forward to learning a lot, and sharing enthusiasm with other G drivers. Any tips welcome.

No pix yet
Thanks for the greetings, folks. No pix yet, but the car is beautiful, so I will take some.
One question: It appears that the TPMS has only a warning light--no read out for separate tire pressures. Is that correct? It's a very minor point, but it was nice to have individual pressure read-outs available.

Welcome to the forums! It's always great to hear the point of view of someone with varying experiences with other cars. I value that perspective as much as reading reviews about the G35 in other sites and media
Thanks--2 day update
Folks, I appreciate all the "welcomes." Thanks!
Just want to say that the more I drive the car, the more I appreciate it It's really a solid ride. Last night, when I got home from work, I programmed some of the features. So, this morning, going in, I found it easy to change music, make calls, and adjust other stuff. There's still a long learning curve, but I'm enjoying reading the manual. Guess I'm nerdier than I thought I was.
Took it out down the GW parkway this afternoon, overlooking the Potomac River and Washington, DC. Nice, curvy road. What a great time driving it.
If I'd had this car back in the 60's, when I was in college, I'd have thought I'd died and gone to some kind of Buck Rogers heaven. Come to think of it, I sort of feel that way now.

Yes, I liked the TPMS on my TL, especially since it agreed with my expensive, round dial pressure sensor. It always showed each tire's pressure accurately. Now, I'll have to check them regularly, which is not a bad habit to get into.
OTOH, with so many things right about the G, I can grin at the few omissions. Are there any others that I should know about?

I was also on the Acura TL / G35 fence when I bought mine.
With an 06 MDX in our garage, the dealer was constantly throwing new deals my way, and I even had 6-7 loaners given to me for a day.... just to tease and taunt me. (Including 1 Type-S which I beat the daylights out of)
Although the TL is a very nice car, after 6-7 day long loaners, I started to get a little bored. I ended up with the G and even after almost a year of ownership, I still smile when I walk into my garage.
If you ask me... you chose very wisely!
Congrats on the new ride and welcome aboard.

Congrats on the car! I see you're in the NoVa area. Mind sharing what dealer you used and how your experience was? I test drove G's at the dealerships in Tyson's and Alexandria, but haven't tried to talk price with them yet. Still can't decide between the coupe and the sedan. Keep changing my mind!

I ended up buying at Passport, about which I had NOT heard good things. The Sales Manager was very friendly but initally made an offer on my TL which was $8,000 too low. So, I tried other dealers and got better offers. Came back to Passport and got a fair price for my TL and bought the G35x for $500 over the fully-optioned invoice price.
As you can probably tell, I'm delighted with my G. I had a TL before (well, actually, 2--because my wife had an '04 auto/non-nav before I got my '06 TL 6MT with Nav. I liked the TL a lot, just not nearly as well as I like the new G.
