240SXLE to G35C6MT

The wait is finally over. I've been a long time 240SX owner (still own it) and have loved the car. In fact, no car really caught my serious attention until the G first appeared... it's been a droolfest ever since. I really wanted a 2006 for the improved interior and bluetooth, the Brembo's on the slightly older Gs look killer though. I always said I didn't want another black car, when I found one with all the features I wanted in excellent shape I couldn't resist. Who am I kidding, black on black looks killer anyways.

I live in the Montreal area and its been a record year for snow. Driving home from the used car dealer was nerve wracking. The road conditions combined with the car's almost bald summer tires certainly didn't allow me the courage to "open her up" in the sub-freezing weather. So far I've just had to content myself with tweaking the Nav, bluetooth and complaining about the stereo and the fact I can't easily transplant my beloved audio gear from my 240 into the G. Now I wait for the snow to melt and continue living my dream through your posts... until April. First order of business... tint. Second....tires

Are there any other former proud 240SX owners out there?

proud S13 owner here! welcome aboard! you'll soon learn what it's like to own two "impractical" cars lol j/k. my S13 is fully built with tuned SR20det and widebody. it once campaigned on all the eastcoast formula D events during the 2005 season. on the other hand, my '05 G 6speed coupe is black like yours. it's nearly stock with just a k&n panel filter. hopefully it won't remain stock for long. get yourself a used set of Z33 rims and throw some blizzaks for some reliable driving in the snow and ice!

i just sold my 98 s14 to get a coupe...I actually sold mine to get a turbo-ka s14 but that didnt pan out so I decided to buy a g35 instead...might not be as fast as what I intended but I know Im happier with it and will continue to be as well...already begun modding the new whip with a Nismo CAI this weekend!

Many thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately I feel like some sort of "closet" G owner since the car has only been driven about 30 miles since I bought it two weeks ago, at least I can stare at in the garage. I'm defintely going through car withdrawals... I actually just finished watching Tokyo Drift (I actually rented it ). I'm not sure if I'll be driving it through winters yet, I might just drive it during the warmer months (did that with the 240 for 3 years before normal wear caused me to care a little less of rocks and salt).

My wife actually wanted me to buy the G, I think she may have been fed up of hearing me talk about it. She actually let me park both my black coupes in the garage and left her car outside. hmmm what does she want?

Congrats on your purchase man...you'll definitely enjoy the car but please do not attempt to drive in snow or freezing conditions...the g is not winter friendly at all... Also +1 on VQ Driver's comment about owning another impratical car..

The G's best use IMO = weekend car, unless of course you live a year round warm environment with smooth roads..this doesn't hold true for NY.

Then the car will have to remain in the garage! The roads in general are terrible and the winters long. I'm pretty used to RWD in the winter though so that shouldn't be a problem with good winter tires. My real concern is the salt and rocks that fly all over place on highways (not to mention crazy potholes from all the freeze-thawing in the spring). Southerners don't know how good they got it!

LightsOut, if my wife gets a Z then we'll own a fleet of impractical cars, not rich or dumb enough for that!

Thanks! I just found out that my black coupe came from your homestate of Florida. The original owner's address was still in the NAV! Then it was confirmed. When I cleaning out the car I found a rubbery thing "stuck" to the back of the rear seat. I ripped it off in pieces thinking it was some sort of gummy substance... it was actually a gecco! Poor thing never stood a chance in our climate!
