New PG 08 G35xS in Naperville IL
My brand-new 08 is in my garage in the Chicago suburbs. I am working in Edison, NJ until Thursday.
I leased her on Saturday. I wanted Platinum Graphite, Premium, Sport, AWD, with mud flaps and a trunk net, and no nav... and sure enough, they had one.
You could say I know Japanese sports cars. I have had the privilege of driving some truly special cars, day in and day out. The 1993 Prelude VTEC, which pioneered variable valve timing on everyday cars. The ultra-rare 1997 Integra Type R, which dominated higher-horsepower RWD cars in the SCCA. The 2003 Acura CL Type S in 6-speed manual, one of only 3400 manual CLs ever made. The screaming rotary and razor-sharp handling of the 2004 RX-8, which, along with the Type R's manic rpms, are the basis of my screen name. And then the mighty 2006 STi, with its pavement-shredding grip and terrifying acceleration.
I had rented the 2005 G35 Sedan before. We had one in Vegas, and we liked it so much we drove to California. The car was just right. When the 2007s came out, with more power and a bit more visual flair, I put off driving one. I put it off because I knew that I was one test drive away from my next great ride.
On Saturday I drove an 08. I loved the power, the luxury, the sound, and the toys. I absolutely loved it. And now, it's in my garage.
And I'm in Jersey.
So, do me a favor. Sometime, in the next few days, go ahead and drop the hammer for me. Enjoy everything this car has to offer. I know, I know, I only have to wait a couple of days, but seriously... if you appreciate this car - if you remember what it was like when it had under 100 miles on it - you understand what I'm going through.
I'll post pictures here when I get home, I promise.
But first, I'm going for a drive.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

That was a well written post. Do you write for a living?
When I bought my G, I had never bought a car that required an appointment for delivery. I couldn't believe I had to come back after I cleaned my car out and was ready to drive home in my new whip. And then the sales guy says, "So when do you want to take delivery?" My heart skipped a couple beats right then and I knew it would be another few nights dreaming about driving the G. I've put 5400miles on since then (got it in March). Thats a lot of miles, but it would be more if I could drive even more.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody. I've written lots of press releases and editorials for various employers, so that is where my writing style probably comes from - but it's infused with a passion for great automobiles. I have spent a little time here on this forum just reading up a bit before the purchase, and this really seems to be a good operation. I probably won't post a lot more because I am in the habit of searching extensively before asking a question that someone else has probably asked - but so far this has been a great resource and it seems like a classy place.
Thanks again for the warm welcome!
