Extended warranty and tire and wheel warranty

Just came back from the dealership tonight. Unless something goes horribly wrong I will be picking up my 08 Blue Slate/Graphite Xs tomorrow evening.

The only thing I need to do tomorrow is besides signing the final paperwork is to decide on the extended warranties. I have never ever bought any extended warranty on any new car I've ever bought. Also consumer reports doersn't recommend them. But I'm contemplating getting the tire and wheel warranty.

What do you guys recommend.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I am going to be in the minority on this one.

I just picked up my G35x on June 14 and did get the tire and wheel warranty. It cost $499 which worked out to $9 a month on the 60 month loan after interest.

My rational was that those wheels are expensive and the tires are too. I do alot of driving (25k a year) and if I blow one rim and one tire due to a pothole, it will be worth it. I have not priced OEM wheels but they can't be cheap. I do know that one tire is going to set you back at least $125.

I have never gotten an extended warranty but did get this. My wife and I could have flipped a coin on this decision. She is normally 100% against any kind of extended warranty so when she thought we should consider it, I thought maybe it will be worth it.

The thing to keep in mind is that these warranty companies price the product to make money, just like insurance. Statistically, you are not going to get your money worth. Otherwise the company would go out of business. But if you are one of the ones that needs it, you will consider it a good investment.

That the same reason I'm considering and will probably buy the tire and wheel warranty only.

Extended warranty is negotiable. I was offered an extended warranty for $2500 (I declined). Later I was offered the same warranty for $1250 + $100 deductible per visit (I accepted).
