New G35 owner in Northeast Texas
Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself as a proud new '08 G35 Journey owner. After 9 months of considering a Lexus IS250, Mercedes C300, and BMW 328i, I traded in my '07 Honda Ridgeline for my new G.
The Ridgeline is a terrific vehicle for what it is. It's extremely useful, relatively comfortable, and has plenty of room, storage, and utility. Unfortunately, I rarely need a truck and will never, ever need the awesome traction it provides here in Northeast Texas.
I've always felt that the "correct" powertrain layout for a vehicle was a longitudinal engine with rear wheel drive. I always dreamed of owning a luxury car, but never had the budget to do so until the last few years.
Historically, all my rides were lower-end domestic vehicles until my '06 Honda Accord. Nice car, but nothing very special about it other than the reliability and resale value. I traded it for the Ridgeline because I needed the utility of a truck, but wanted the advantages of owning a Honda.
I had been ready to move up a vehicle class for a while and really, really like the BMW 3-series, but the options I wanted put it well beyond what I felt was a reasonable price for a vehicle. Enter the G35. I'm still only 99% comfortable driving a Nissan, but at least the Infiniti sedans are rather unique since they don't have a clone unlike a Lincoln Town Car being nothing more than a Ford Crown Victoria with more options. Sure, the BMW was an absolute dream to drive, but I think the G give it a definite run for the money.

Welcome and congrats on the new G. I was 99% sure I was getting a Lexus IS250 AWD until I decided to visit one last dealer and then drove the G35. Like you, I had been to BMW and test drove the 328 (xi for me) - and then to Audi and drove the A4 2.0. Of course they are all nice vehicles but there was no way of getting around the full package that makes up the G35: much more fun to drive, punchier, great interior and fit & finish and more features with just the premium package whereas the other cars required seperate packages to get the same level of features. I have a feeling I will be an Infiniti owner for quite some time to come
