New G35x Owner Returning to the Warm Bosom of Mother Nissan

Hey,

I'm finally back to the world of the 4DSC. After driving a few beat up Fords and a 2 year lease on a Mazda CX-7, I bought a 2005 G35x just after Thanksgiving. Diamond Graphite with Graphite interior, Premium Package, Certified Pre-Owned. I say finally back because I had a 3rd Gen Maxima SE for about 10 years, and loved that car. It got me hooked on Nissans and the V series engines. I saw the G35 as a logical step up to the Maxima, it just took me a few extra years to finally get into one. So far (11 weeks, 3500 miles) it's been everything I could have hoped for. I love that sweet, sweet V6 sound.

I've always liked a car that wasn't very common, and I kind of had that with my CX-7, but definitely have it now with my G. There's no Infiniti or Acura dealer within about 150 miles, so there are very few on the road around here. People sometimes do a double-take when they see my car. Take a glance, look away, and then look again because they realize it isn't some generic Hyundai POS or Chevy HOJ.

I miss, and had forgotten about, the large and enthusiastic following that Nissan has online. It's not surprising to see that Infiniti is the same way. In fact, I think I recognize a few people from the old alt.autos.nissan.maxima days (Jeff92SE, you sound familiar). I've seen a few people on here (Dave B, RicoG35x) who seem to share my basic philosophy about upgrades (OEM if possible, scrounge around for a deal, keep it looking stock even though you've added 50+ horse), but it's also impossible not to appreciate the work that someone like ttrank has put into his car. 650 frickin' HP is just plain sick! But no matter what your philosophy, we all share one thing, we wouldn't be here if we didn't love our cars.

Born and raised in Ohio, database programmer/developer, Buckeye fan since birth, Cleveland sports fan for life, Miami University alumni, lived in Orygun for 9 years, climbed Hood, Adams, South Sister, St. Helens multiple times, Rainier up to Camp Muir a few times, hiked nearly everything in the Columbia Gorge, put over 3000 miles on my boots, moved back to the Midwest in 2003 to be near the family again. I miss the mountains, but also missed the family, and never thought I'd still be in Michigan.

Anyhoo, just wanted to say hello to everyone. Looking forward to years of reading and contributing to this and other forums.

Current Mods
OEM Z-Tube
K&N Drop In Filter
SBD Grounding Kit (ordered and on the way)

Near Future Mods
HR Y-Pipe (hopefully early March)
Motordyne 5/16ths Copper ISO Thermal Plenum Spacer (waiting on Michigan tax return)
Rev-Up Airbox (as soon as I can find one cheap)

Other Future Mods
Richie/NRG Tower Brace (a month or two)
Rear Sway Bar
18x8 OEM Wheels
Muffler (maybe, will re-visit once other mods are in place)
IvoryGT-style projector headlights (OK, not so stock, but they look cool)

After that ... who knows. I welcome other ideas.

Pics at the dealer the day I bought it. It's been snowing ever since, so no chance yet for other pics.
