Hello to All- pics inisde
Hey everybody, I picked up an 05 6mt coupe with 27k mi. about 3 weeks ago locally from Beaverton Infiniti.
I've owned several Nissans, 2 of them being 4th gen Maximas (96, 98 5mt). I swapped a VQ35 into the 98.
For the most part Im happy with the G so far but theres a few things (pinging at times with 92 octane gas, intermittent flywheel noise, 2nd gear crunch at times, clutch pedal.. weirdness) Im not impressed with. I'm also a little weary of the common oil consumption issue with the revup engines so I've been checking the oil level frequently. But the car is a blast to drive aggressively and just to cruise
See you around.

Welcome and congrats!
The concerns with the issues you mentioned I experienced when I "upgraded" from my 4th gen. Maxima to the 5.5th gen, so when I got the G I was already used to all that. :-/ 4th gen was far more smooth, refined, etc. than later Maximas. Trust me, you did not miss out on going to the 5th/5.5th gen.
Anyways, you will get used to all those things. Enjoy your new ride!

Having an 06 6MT myself I've always wondered how many revup owners have actually had the OC & gear grinding problems.
I myself have experienced neither but it's always in the back of my mind.
I would still love to know the % of owners that have either issue, I bet it's quite minimal.

Thanks guys.
Thanks! Yeah, Im sure youre right about getting used to those things.
I've also wondered how many revups (percentage) on the road experience the oc problem. And my gearbox is smooth and quiet except when going into 2nd at low engine speed. It seems to like the higher rpm shifts...
