New sedan owner in Columbus
Hey guys, I'm glad that I get to start one of these threads finally
I have been lurking around these forums for a couple years now, I am also an I30 owner (96, love the car) so I wanted a car with a strong online support. I started looking at G35's casually back in January, but didn't see anything I liked. Then, in March my car decided to die on me, so the hunt was on for a new car.
I started looking at all cars in general, I knew it would be hard to get financed as a full-time student, and I didn't want a junker. I test drove and looked at a few cars, but nothing really impressed me. I wanted a newer car, preferably manual tranny, and the best I could find was a Mazda 3.
Well, I decided to check out an automatic 2003.0 DP sedan with black interior and premium package and loved it instantly. The test drive had me smiling the whole time. The car has 129k miles but drives smooth and quiet, and only has one previous owner.
I had the car inspected by an auto shop (C.A.R.S. in Clintonville, btw) and they said it was in excellent shape. So I pulled the trigger and bought the car. :-) It was funny watching person after person walk up to the car and ask to test drive it while I was signing the papers.
The car isn't perfect, as would be expected for an 8 year old. The back bumper is scratched up pretty good, and the front bumper has a crack right near the light on the corner. I live in a college town, so it isn't shocking, and I look at it as a push to get an aftermarket bumper cover (hopefully a poly Nismo if I am lucky
) It also kind of sucks that it is a 2003.0, so I get the doggy door and decreased tuning options, but the doggy door is starting to grow on me.
Well here she is, although it isn't the greatest pic. I will hopefully wash/clay bar/wax her tomorrow if the weather ever gets better.

I don't have a very extensive list of mods I'd like to do. I would like to get an intake and exhaust for the car. I don't want it really loud and ricey, just a little more aggressive when I get on the gas. That will definitely require more hours scouring the many threads on this site. I would like to get some rims next summer, not in the budget right now. I am leaning towards the OEM 19" Rays, I love that look. I might get some darker tints also. I might think about lowering it when I get new rims, but I know that once I do lower it I won't want to stop, it's so addicting lol. Lastly, I'd like to get to add iPod control to the car. I would like to swap in a DD, but I am worried about it getting stolen (my last Avic D3 was ripped out of my I30), so I might opt for just adding it with the OEM connector.
Sorry for the long post, just happy to finally be a part of this site

Stiffer springs, upgraded shocks, some underside aero stuff, the 17" wheels, of course plus the rear spoiler. 'Titanium' coloured centre console. Good to see another doggy door sedan.
Oh and in case you haven't figured it out...most dealers don't know ****. They could look up your VIN and tell you EXACTLY what you have.
