New to the boards :)
Hey guys, i'm new to the boards and pretty pretty excited to start posting. I've always wanted to join a car forum! my friends are all really into cars and they've been telling me to go join a forum since i have a g35.
I actually moved to scottsdale from cleveland about a year ago, sold my 350z and bought an 07 white g35 coupe
I dont know shiz about engine mods but i do know about exterior mods
I'll post 2 pics of how it looked when I just got it
i've already done a few mods:
blacked out front grill
clear side markers
debadged the "g35"
black vinyl roof
10k HID bulbs
5% window tint
plasti-dipped rear diffuser this weekend
When I just bought it:

The only thing a G35 needs is a twin turbo kit pushing 400 hp to the wheels. You do not need to know anything about engine mods. Just buy it and slap it on. Done!

I like this question and get ready to be torn apart. I was planning on replying earlier to you but got caught up. Now you ask even better questions that i love to disect.
You want turbo huh...lets first start with feedback on the current vehicle and you previous questions you had. I like the white color and the blackvinyl roof if you like it cool no issues...its a new fad so enjoy it and looks best on white. The black grill is nice and the rear diffuser but stick to doing the work properly. It is not the parts you use but the quality of your install and your prep work. I would not use plastidip but instead prep material and paint along with clear coating. This will last a lot longer and will not chip as easily. Do it right the first time and it will be much more cost effective in the long run.
Your HID's...ditch the 10k that is rice and I love rice don't get me wrong had some for lunch today but you already have enough white on your car. Go with 6k hid and that is the best balance for color and still near oem visibilty. Anything over 6k is just adding more color at the expense of visibility. Is it cool to hit a deer or human in the dark since you can't see them but hey its must be okay since you got 10k hids..higher the better.
Now you ask for turbo and the cost of turbo. The vq motor is very expensive to work on and very weak. So right there you hit 2 hard walls and need to have deep pockets. Most who go turbo or supercharger run into extra added costs, blown motors, down time and what not. You better have a second vehicle before you even think about putting a turbo on your car. Now lets get to the cost. You will need around $10k in your wallet to be able to safely upgrade to a turbo. THe cost of the turbo will run you between $4k-$7k and install will run you $1500-$2000 with a tune. Then you have to remember as you get into the 400 horsepower range you are only buying time till that motor goes BOOM
My honest recommendation is to enjoy the vehicle you have and to look at installing a hiflow air filter, Z-tube, revup box, exhaust, high flow cats, Y-pipe, Plenum spacer and osiris tune. Work On suspension and brakes along with any maintenance aspect the vehicle needs such as fluids, belts, tires, brakes, bushings, filters. Sell the car down the road and buy something out of the box with turbo such as BMW 335i, Audi RS4, WRX, Lancer, Mercedes Kompressor or what ever tickles your pickle.
